Suddenly a loud ringing sounded through the room, causing all of us to cover our ears or in mine, Nat's and Maria's case, reach for our weapons which we had all hidden under our clothes.
"How could you be worthy, you're all killers?" A metallic voice said, closely followed by a broken robot stumbling towards us.
"I woke up and I was in chains, I was so confused l...I had to kill the other guy. He was a good one". The robot said.
"You killed someone? Who?" I asked as Dad questioned me incredulously
"Why did you bring a gun to a party?"
"Shut up, it's come in useful, hasn't it? Why haven't you brought one?"
"The world forces us to do cruel things." The robot carried on rambling.
"Who sent you?" Thor questioned
"I see a suit of armour around the world" Tony Stark's voice ran through the room.
"Ultron." Bruce murmured.
"In the flesh." The robot, Ultron confirmed. I disagreed with that. In the metal would have been more accurate. "Not yet, not in this chrysalis. But I will be. I'm on a mission."
"What mission?" Nat asked
"Peace in our time."
Robots crashing through the walls, explosions and shattered glass. Steve kicked up a table as Clint and I dived behind the couch and started firing our guns. Thor bashed the converted Iron Legion while Dad and Rhodey were thrown backwards.
"Dad!" I shouted "You good?"
"Yeah!" He shouted back.
A robot came towards me, I shot. Once. Twice. Three times. It crumpled to the floor. I didn't have enough time to shoot again before everyone was getting cornered.
"For fucks sake." I murmured.
I covered Nat and Bruce as they dashed up the stairs and resumed combat. I glanced up and Dad was being piggybacked by a robot. Armed with a screwdriver he started fiddling with the controls on the neck as the robot screeched its reassuring messages designed to keep peace. Clint chucked Cap's shield at him as Steve caught it and used it to slice the last robot in half.
"That was dramatic." Ultron remarked dryly "You won't protect the world if you don't want it to change. How can you save men if they cannot evolve? There is only one path to peace. The Avenger's extinction." Thor threw his hammer at Ultron, destroying the body.
