Validation is the reason why so many stories have terrible main characters.
One common thing in fanfiction is the making of an OC who is not only the story's main character but also extremely powerful and perfect at everything.
Usually, the reason behind this is the author seeking validation in some way or another.
It's quite interesting to search for this kind of stuff because you end up finding things you didn't know existed.
For instance, some people seek validation from their favorite fictional characters(usually the main romance partner.)
In Wattpad however, it's pretty easy to tell who the author is seeking validation from.
The community.
Since the community seems to love trash, more and more people make trash stories with the same plot and problems so they can feel accepted.
All of this is unfortunately a symptom of people not having any standards.
