"No problem."
We then all sat around the campfire, chatting.
However, the whole time something didn't feel right. Hermes words kept replaying in my mind that I wouldn't be satisfied with the result if I only did it for myself.
But that wasn't the issue. It didn't feel complete in the first place. It wasn't a matter of how it felt, it just felt like it never happened. Was it because I didn't see the dragon dead with my own eyes?
I wondered this the whole way back to the city, where cheers and claps were heard, as well as the occasional sob you could hear from the loss of a familia member. It was currently night, but it felt like everyone's feelings of joy could make it day
"BELLLLLLLL!" I loud voice jumped at me from the side and tackled me to the ground. It was none other than Hestia. She rubbed herself against my body before she looked at me, "Ah...So, it really was like he had said."
I didn't have any doubt about who this 'he' was. It could only be Hermes.
We both got up and continued walking until we broke off with the group and headed home along with the rest of the familia. At the entrance of our mansion, though, was Hermes leaning against the porch.
"Yo! Mind if I snag Bell for a bit?"
I naturally expected Hestia to deny it, but she readily agreed, "Sure!"
"huh?"
I was so shocked I let that slip from my lips as everyone else went inside.
"Come with me," He then started to walk further into the city, and I followed behind him. "Why are you sulking?"
"What do you mean?"
"I would bet everything I have that you haven't smiled once since returning have you?"
"..."
I couldn't deny it, because it was true. It wasn't that I was unhappy, but I wasn't happy either. After all, Like I had said it didn't feel like I had done anything.
"You still have some work to do on the crooked personality of yours. It never sits well with other people to have someone look so gloomy after completing a task as grand as that."
"...Did you figure this would happen?"
"I told you to not enjoy it alone. Did I not?"
"Yea, but that's not what I'm-"
"You want to be happy, is that it? But you feel no sense of accomplishment. The reason for that is simple, you didn't see the dragon die, so you feel as though it never happened. However, you have the wrong mindset. You should be happy that the calamity that ruled over this world is gone. It doesn't matter whether you think it is gone or not. Your teammates said it was dead, and you need to trust and accept that and also be happy about that."
"...I know that I'm selfish, but I...I want to be happy in my own way. How can you simply say to be happy by seeing others happy?"
"That's something I'm still learning myself."
"Isn't hypocritical then to say such a thing?"
"It is. Very hypocritical in fact. But, humans are capable of change that's hard for the gods to understand. I'm trying to do the same, but I can't. Yet, you likely can. You just need to see it."
I was about to continue arguing that this was bullshit, but I realized that we were right outside the Loki familia home.
"Take a look." He said
