Why Can't You Understand? Drew/drake angst

Jake's attempts

Drew POV:

"Hey! You!" I shouted while approaching the boy

What is he doing?!

The boy with strawberry-coloured hair flinched as he turned around. I saw that the boy was just watering my plant.

Thank goodness

His face was very familiar, erm Elliot? I think. I'm never really good with names.

Years ago, Jake dragged me to many different clubs, Gardening was one of them. This boy in front of me, Elliot, was also in there, I think he still is. I planted my own orchid flower while Jake, obviously, planted Daisy.

That stupid little simp

I guessed that I might not have enough time to take care of multiple flowers so I planted only one. On the other hand, Jake planted a handful of daisies and barely ever take care of them. I don't even know how I'm still keeping this little piece of grass alive, and Jake's.

"Oh! Um. sorry..." Elliot said as he backed away

I approached my flower and checked on it gently, making sure it is alright.

"You really care about that flower huh?" he said quietly

I turned to look at Elliot and he was squinting at me, studying me closely. He must have seen my nervous expression when I was looking at the flower.

"Um, yeah," I said, signing in relief

"What about those," Elliot asked, pointing at the daisies on the side.

"Yeah, I mean no?- It was Jake's" I explained

Elliot just nodded

"Your orchid is doing great! It is really healthy, how did you do it?" He asked curiously. Inside the school garden, not a lot of plants are growing very nicely from the lack of care.

"It just needs some love and cares I guess" I concluded and smiled dimly at the flower

3rd person:

Little did Drew know, he was just like the flower. He could've thrived just like the flower if he had a little love and care he needed. If

Drew sat silently with Elliot for a while. Drew finally checked his watch, 10 minutes till class.

"I'm going to go now" He quickly got up.

"Wait!" Elliot jumped up

Drew looked at him in shock, the whole time, Elliot was either silent or quiet, it was quite sudden.

"Sorry- I just wanted to say, I know you are a popular 'bully' in school, and I'm just an ordinary kid, and I know my opinion might not matter and-" Elliot said stuttering

"I'm an ordinary student too, please get to the point," Drew said, trying to keep his patience

"You've been really nice to me today, and I really admire that!" Elliot said, blushing from embarrassment

Drew first stared at Elliot blankly then he started to smile.

"i-I'm sorry! I-" Elliot covered his face

"Oh no! It's quite alright, I appreciate you saying that" Drew said with a slight smile

Elliot immediately calmed down and looked at Drew, whose smile grew bigger and bigger as the seconds went by.

"I'll see you around," Drew said smiling then turned around

Drew left with a warm feeling in his heart, was there actually a chance that somebody could like him?
