Why Can't You Understand? Drew/drake angst

Apology not accepted?

Monday, lunch time:

Jake came by the table and sat down with the jomie. Jake caught a glare from Drew while grabbing his chair. Jake felt a shiver down his spine. He doesn't usually get such a cold glare from Drew. Liam and Henry were staring at him, nodding towards drew, signalling Jake to apologize.

Jake was so nervous, he managed mutter something under his breath

"Drew I-"

"What?!" Drew snap back.

Everybody flinched. That's when Jake realized how upset Drew was.

"I'm so sorry for ditching you. I-I totally forgot" Jake tried to explain searching for his words

"Because you were with the music freaks?" Drew said with a stern voice

Henry and Liam gasped, then looked at Jake. Jake's eyes widened.

"I- what?!- how do you know?!" Jake spoke up

Drew continued scrolling on his phone, he hadn't looked up once. He then held up Jake's post from Thursday evening.

'hanging out with my family jamily!'

Henry and Liam shifted to the side to get a better view of the phone

"Jamily?..." Henry whispered. Liam and Drew was surprised as they turned to look at Henry. Henry's eyes were sparkling with tears.

"No guys! please! it's just a joke" Jake tried to find an excuse.

"It certainly is not. You consider them as family?" Drew obviously didn't believe that, staring at Jake intensely.

Liam tried to comfort Henry by putting his hands on Henry's shoulders

"I'm sure he doesn't mean it" Liam whispered to Henry and then shot Jake a harsh glare

"Guys! Please! I can explain! I'm so sorry!" Jake started to panic

"What is there to explain?" Drew said sadly and then got up

It's true, there is nothing to explain. He unconsciously considered the music club more family than what he calls "his best friends"

"I'm sorry Drew! We can always reschedule the sleepover" Jake grabbed Drew's wrist

Drew immediately turned around and snatched his hand back. Everyone flinched at the sudden movement. Everyone's eyes widened as they saw Drew's expression.

Jake finally got a glimpse of Drew's expression from before, but now it's different. It was a mix of sorrow and anger, Drew looked horrible, and Jake never thought the sleepover meant so much to him.

"Don't touch me, Jake." He said coldly

"Please... Drew" Jake said quietly with convincing eye contact

Drew's eyes soften for a second, as if he was trying to forgive Jake. Then he just turned back around.

"How could you forget?..." He walked away with his head down.

Henry ran after Drew and clung to his's arm. Drew stopped slightly, considering whether to shove Henry off, obviously, he did not.

The two walked away silently as Jake sat there speechlessly with Liam by his side.

After the two were gone, Liam turned to Jake.

"Uhm. care to explain?" Liam asked unamused

"I- well-" Jake was thinking hard for an excuse

"So what Drew said was right? You don't like us?" Liam asked coldly

Jake was surprised, he didn't think Liam would get to the point like that. Liam is awfully serious and that made Jake feel very uneasy.

"No! Of course not!" Jake raised his hand in surrender

Liam watched him and raised an eyebrow

"I would never replace you guys! You guys are my best friends! I only hang out with that that much because of, you know, the competition!" Jake tried to sound convincing

Liam signed and then stood up.

"If you really mean that. You better tell Drew that. Before he does anything stupid" Liam said, as he walked away.

Jake sat alone at the table. Did he just lose his best friends because of some stupid sleepover? Jake knew he had to make it up to Drew.

With Drew:

"I'm going to prepare for class Henry, I'll see you guys later," Drew said with a sigh

"Are you sure Drew? There are still 30 minutes" Henry replied

Drew chuckled at the fact that Henry had a sense of time.

"I just need some alone time alright? Will you be okay? I'm sorry this had to get you guys involved" Drew said

"I'm fine Drew! The real question is if you are fine. But if alone time is what you need then go ahead. I'll see you!!" Henry's face brightened at the fact that he gained Drew's worry.

Henry gave Drew a quick hug and ran off to find Liam.

Drew decided that he wasn't going to go to class just yet, just as Henry said, there is still 30 minutes.

Drew walked outside to his favourite spot, the school garden. Not a lot of students go there surprisingly. The flowers there is beautiful, it's what softened his addiction to cigarettes. Drew kneeled down to find his usual object in the garden. After minutes of searching, he realized that it was nowhere to be seen. He searched desperately everywhere for it.
