Chapter 35 : Care
“Good morning,” A low tone spoke.
Napatigil ako sa paglalakad at kaagad ko siyang nakita na nakatayo sa gilid ng kanyang SUV na itim. Napatingin naman ako sa dala kong kotseng kulay puti na mas maliit sa kanya. He also looked at my car and his brows raised.
“You bought a car?” He asked.
I nodded. “Yes, engr.”
He bit his lower lip. “There's no way, you're gonna ride with me one of those days.” he whispered.
Kumunot ang noo ko. “You're saying something, Engr. Villorejo?”
He pouted and his eyebrows ceased. “Nothing ma'am.”
I nodded and instantly advanced my step in which he decided to instantly follow me. “Can I hold your bag?”
I forced a smile. “No, I can handle it. Salamat.”
Hindi naman na rin siya nagsalita ngunit naramdaman ko pa rin ang presensya niya nang makarating ako sa classroom ko. I saw one of my students already waiting in the small bench under the narra tree.
He smiled at me. “Hi po, teacher Angela!”
My lips curled into a smile. “Good morning Vincent, ang aga mo ah?” I said and I saw him wearing his bag on his shoulder before he strode towards me. When he arrived in front of me, his eyesight immediately went to the man beside me who's a little silent for a long time.
“Engr. Vire...lohe? po?” His brows ceased as if he's trying to remember the man's name besides me.
Umiling ako. “No, it's Engr—”
“I'm Engineer Angelus Villorejo, kid. Good morning.” He greeted politely besides me, napatingin kaagad ako sa kanya at may munting ngiti siya sa kanyang mga labi ng napatingin sa akin.
Napalunok ako ng maramdaman ang kung anong kuryente sa titigan namin.
“Alright, bubuksan ko na ang room. You can put your bag inside, pero wag mag-stand by ha? Understand?”
Tumango si Vincent. “Yes, po teacher!”
Nang nabuksan ko na ang classroom ay inayos ko kaagad ang mga bag ko sa desk ko bago ko napansin na nakatayo pa rin siya sa labas.
Kumunot ang noo ko. Bakit hindi pa siya umaalis.
“May kailangan ka, Engr?” Tanong ko nang lumapit ako sa may pintuan.
“I'll start working later.”
Napataas ang kilay ko. “Oh? It is my concern Engr?”
He licked his lower lip before his hopeful eyes looked at me. “Can I ask you for lunch?”
“Why?”
“Wala akong kasama..” Iniwas niya ang tingin niya sa akin at nakita ko ang paglunok niya. “Wala pa si Engr. Salvacion..”
My eyes slightly widened upon hearing a familiar surname. “Salvacion...is he your previous classmate right? Gabriel, is it him?”
He pressed his lips. “Yes, why?”
“How was he?”
“Good.”
“Kasama mo pala siya rito? You didn't tell me.”
“It's not that necessary.” bahagyang kumunot ang noo niya.
“But he's somehow someone I knew from school. Gusto ko siyang kumustahin..”
