Got any gum?

"Don't fucking touch me!" I screamed. I snatched my arms away from the two guards and continued to walk, anger and annoyance apparent on my face. I was being switched out of my previous room and placed into a different one because my old cell mate and I couldn't seem to get along. I guess after a third fight this year they finally had enough. It was all in good fun though, no one died.

"You'd better not fuck this one up, Quinn." One of the guards, Danny snapped. He shoved me inside the cell, closing and locking the gate afterwards.  I turned around and put my hands through the opening for him to unlock the handcuffs. He quickly got them off and put them back on his belt.

"What did I say about pushing, Danny? It's not fucking polite." I spat.

"Don't fucking call me by my first name! Be a good little bitch and shut your mouth!"  Danny growled. Officer Preciado stayed behind him, not getting into any of this. I only called Officer Worsnop by his first name because I knew it pissed him off. He hasn't liked me since I stepped foot in this place.

I knew better than to keep arguing with him by now. He'd only put me in solitary confinement anyway, that bastard. I just got out of there last week and right now all I wanted to do was nap until lunch.

He laughed snidely, banging on the metal bars just to make me jump. It pissed me off and he knew it. I jumped forward and hit the bars as a way to 'fight' with him. He only smirked and walked away with Preciado.

"You know, fighting like that isn't gonna get you out of here any sooner."

I turned around, I had almost forgotten about my new cell mate. He was sitting on his mattress, his knees up to his chest, his arms dangling off to the side, clutching the bedsheet harsh. He had tattoos running up and down his arms, his neck, his chest.

"What's up with you? You seem angry." I questioned, noticing how he released and tightened his grip on the sheets, his eyes still closed.

"It's too small in here. I feel suffocated." He replied simply. Ah, so he's clausterphobic.

"Lunch is in ten. You'll be fine." I dismissed.

I trudged over to my rusty bed and laid down on my stomach. I looked at my new cell mate as he took a deep breath and opened his eyes, looking over to me.

"Austin Carlile." He spoke.

"Kellin Quinn." I responded.

"Yea, I figured. Everyone pretty much knows who you are, what with all the fights with Sykes and people picking sides...how could I not?"

"We don't fight that much." I shrugged it off. "He just doesn't know when to give up."

"Please, you two fight like cats in the rain!" Austin laughed. He was easing up, his posture a lot more relaxed.

"Cats? Fuck that, he's a poodle, at least cats can fight. I'm a Doberman, I'll tear him to shreds." I laughed too. "So how long have you been in here for?"

"A year. You?"

"Five. It doesn't get easier, you just get used to it." I replied.

"Fuck, man."

We both laid back, not saying anything else after that. I think I like him. He's definitely not Sykes. He doesn't have that stupid accent either.

I heard keys jingling, then light footsteps through the hall. Something was off. I've been here for five years, not once have I heard such a calm walk through these halls. I sat up on my mattress and walked over to the gate, wrapping my fingers around the bars and looking out.

It was a guard, only I had never seen him before. He was new, he was hot, he was...short. He looked at me, our eyes locking and he sort of just stared at me. Neither of us was looking away. My flat lined smile soon turned into a smirk and he walked closer.

"Lunch is in three minutes. I'll let you boys out." He spoke, still looking at me in the eyes. I wasn't sure what it was but his stare intimidated me a little. But just a little. No one intimidates me.

"You're just gonna let us out early?" I asked. He nodded, a small tug to the corners of his lips when he replied.

"I don't see why not."

"You must be new here..." I Spoke quietly, a smirk still evident on my face.  "Thanks, officer..."

"Fuentes." He smiled. "I just started here today, actually."

"Huh, did you now?..." I hummed, biting my lip in a flirtatious way to catch his attention. He glanced down at my lips quickly, almost so quick that I didn't notice.

"Yup. Enjoy your lunch, boys." He spoke, unlocking the gate and letting us out.

Austin was quick to get out, happy to just be out of that cramped up cell.

"Fucking finally!" He yelled, and he was long gone.

I stepped out, trailing my eyes up and down his body, biting my lip again.

"Good luck...Fuentes." I smirked, turning my back on him and walking towards the cafeteria.

I heard a quiet and shaky 'thanks' muttered In reply.

"That new guards cute." I smirked.

"Don't go getting any ideas, Kellin." My brother Jack warned.

"He looks straight." Justin pitched in.

"He's a guard." My dad said.

"A hot one." I deffended.

"Kellin, no." My uncle, Gabe scoffed. "Absolutely not."

Fuck, I swear he acted more like my dad than my dad did. He needs to shut up.

"Shut up. There's food in front of you, eat it." I teased.

"You should go for it." Justin smirked, though I could tell he was joking. "Or I will."

"Alright, I will. Excuse me, boys." I stood up with my half empty tray, throwing it away and walking towards Fuentes with my charming smile.

"Hey Fuentes, got any gum?" I asked. He looked at me, he went from a stern look on his face to one of a softer tone.

"No, I'm sorry, Inmate." He responded. I smirked again and he smiled, still looking at me.

"My names Kellin." I smiled softly. He was so cute. He smiled with his teeth this time, a small tooth on one side, really cute, standing out from the others.

"Vic." He replied with a small laugh.

"Fuentes! No making friends with the inmates!" Danny shouted across the room. Vic jumped, a little scared, total newb but adorable either way. I laughed lightly.

"Inmate, go sit down!" Vic yelled at me. I jumped a little, not expecting it, but turned around to leave either way. I'll make him look good.

"Hey!" He whisper shouted. I turned around again. "I'm sorry. We'll talk later?"

My face lit up at the suggestion.

"Yea...definitely." I smiled. I turned and headed back towards the table.

He's way too cute to be a guard.
