This is the second chapter this month.

Recently, the number of people infected with Corona in Tokyo has been increasing... W-well, it doesn't matter to me because I don't have any friends and I don't go out for drinks... I'm lonely.

Halidom of Ganeshade, Kalkatak, JGSDF Base Airfield

Over the course of more than a month and a half, Japan had been constructing a base that also served as an airfield in Kalkatak, at the southern tip of the Halidom of Ganeshade, in a 'fairly rushed' fashion. However, the situation was so difficult that they had to airlift materials and fuel as far as possible to the Sindhvan Community along the way and transport them by ship from there.

Nevertheless, since the government was aware of the danger of Ganeshade and anticipated that a large number of materials would be needed for this campaign, they had been making various preparations steadily for more than a year... On the other hand, if they had not made such careful preparations, they would not have been able to efficiently construct the base.

Specifically, instead of prioritizing the development of the eastern part of Sindhvan in the future, they rented land between them for the storage of materials and fuel for the construction of the SDF base and transported the materials up close. In fact, the Sindhvan Community was willing to give them land, as one of the 21 guildmasters had been killed. They even allowed Japan to 'use it as they please indefinitely.'

Thanks to the government's steady diplomatic efforts and the 'more-than-enthusiastic' labor on the field, the transportation of materials proceeded reasonably smoothly. Having established a defensive position in Kalkatak, the SDF next proceeded to develop a port facility with enough capacity to dock large ships for now.

In about half a month, not only SDF transport ships but also large vessels such as civilian tankers and cargo ships were able to dock at the port, which further facilitated the smooth transportation of materials. Gantry cranes were also constructed, which greatly helped in the transportation of materials.

The major general contractors also joined in the construction work at government expense, and the airfield was finally ready for operation. Although it is impossible to operate huge aircraft such as super-sized jumbo jets, planes up to C-2's size would not be a problem.

Douji, the commander of the JGSDF's 1st Airborne Brigade, was smiling widely when he saw the airfield, which was completed in no time.

"Hahaha. Amazing! They can do such a thing nowadays!"

Sawashiro, the second-in-command, frowned at the leader, who was cackling with gusto.

"This is not a laughing matter, Commander. Do you have any idea how hard the government has worked for this?"

For more than a month, the 1st Airborne Brigade had been training intensely here in Kalkatak. There was a mountain of work to be done: getting used to the local environment, making sure the paratroopers were in good shape, checking to see if it was possible to procure food locally, and confirming coordination with the Air and Maritime Self-Defense Forces.

The Halidom of Ganeshade, which is the equivalent of the old world's India, is home to creatures such as Asiatic lions and Indian elephants. In fact, once a herd of lions approached their camp, and we managed to drive them away by creating a fire and blowing smoke to spook them. Other incidents occurred on a daily basis in various forms, such as elephant calves wandering into the area or encountering a plesiosaur on the beach, which could have resulted in casualties if not for the cooperation of the branches.
