I fixed my gaze on his tensed jaw and tight-lipped expression. it was demanding. Cold. Distraught. Well, well, well. It looks like I hit a nerve. "What's the matter, Dottore? The Fatui soldiers can say it just fine but I can't?"

"This is a completely different matter. I will not allow you to-" He paused and ground his teeth back and forth, all of a sudden his demeanour changed and he breathed in harshly "You."

"me?"

"You have become my weakness."

Silence. A deathly silence filled the control room as time stood still between us and I smothered the urge to smile.

All at once, time began to move again and Dottore left the room in a rush. Not a single head caress or loving word was thrown my way as he did.

I hummed in amusement, the power I held in my hands now was immeasurable. I was his weakness.

This big bad villain had a weakness, and it was none other than me. It was almost laughable, how easy it was to manipulate such a cold and calculating man.

No, that couldn't be it. It wasn't easy at all. His manipulation tactic during our first date must have been the foundation for my success, but what really must have tipped the playing field to my favour was perhaps the enticing power of unknown knowledge I held against the mad scientist, whose wish was to further strengthen the Fatui and send Aether spiralling to his death.

My lack of interest veiled in unadulterated love and his authority, influence and exceptionally choreographed facade must have been what had undone his tight-knit walls. It was not simple, it was strategic. My plan came to be before I even thought of it.

But this wasn't the time to ponder on the how and when, I needed to retrieve the items for my escape plan tonight. If Dottore and the majority of his men are not here, it shouldn't be as difficult as I first thought.

After his little outburst, I highly doubt he would make an appearance again before he leaves for her royal highness.

Spinning around on my heels, I turned to face Dottore's belongings and walked over to them. These items are not going to be easy to carry. I know my previous bag is out of the question and I'm pretty sure Dottore does not hold a bag when he has his mini-me's doing all that work for him. So I need to think carefully about how many items I take with me and what items I take.

Rummaging through Dottore's belongings once more, I put aside the Akasha terminal, one can of food and two of the torture tools available; a scalpel and an adamantium claw attached to one of Dottore's signature gloves.

This should be enough. Putting everything else back, I began to contemplate where I would put these 4 items.

The Akasha terminal would fit just fine on my ear. There is no doubt about that. Whether this is the modified one or not, it would still be useful to take back with me. I could have it documented and kept in the safe at the lab for testing.

The canned food might be a problem, but maybe I could hide it in my blue hood and ensure I am careful when moving so it doesn't fall out? Ugh, what choice do I have.

Then I needed to figure out what I wanted to do with the weapons, I knew one of them could be worn. That's fine, but the scalpel might be a bit difficult. It's too sharp to leave in the hood with the canned food, and it would cause decreased speed if I wanted to get to it quickly.

I picked the scalpel up and reviewed its thin tip, pressing my finger along the sharp edge and caressing the dull back, remembering a time when this had once been used on me.

Then I grabbed a lock of hair and looked down at it, twisting it around my index finger absentmindedly. I haven't done anything new with it since I got here and it's gotten rather long in the months I had been trapped in Sumeru.  I combed it slightly with my fingers and finally, had a eureka moment. A kanzashi! The scalpel is the perfect length and the tip is sharp enough to seamlessly go through a small bun!

That's it, I'll use the scalpel as a hairpiece. It'll be easier to grab and swiftly slash at an enemy that way.

I took a quick look outside the room, it looked as though with Dottore's departure, many Fatui soldiers followed suit. Now, there was just the two standing guard outside of the entrance and I would have to assume there is likely 2 or 3 outside. It's not like they need many soldiers to keep me safe.

Although I had plenty of time between now and Dottore's inevitable return, I needed to prepare myself mentally for what was about to go down. So, placing the canned good in my hood, the akasha terminal and gloved weapon on my body and the scalpel in a tight bun, I turned my arm on and readied myself.

It was now or never, after all.
