"I advise you all to ditch the cliff notes or you will fail. Please read chapters 15 through 28 for the upcoming exam. If there aren't any more questions, you're dismissed."

Professor Stine gave a stern glance over the room of college students. I continued writing down the instructions for our final project of the semester.

"Hey, Zena...don't forget, I'm having a party at my place this Friday."

I looked at my friend Mya. "I won't."

Once my bag was packed, I was ready to go home and relax for the rest of the day. It was nice and sunny outside, everyone was gearing up for Spring break.

"There's my baby." Matt wrapped his arm around my waist from behind.

"Matt, stop." I elbowed him off.

He sucked his teeth. "There you go pushing me away again and you wonder why you're single."

Matt is my so-called ex-boyfriend who thought if he gave me a title I would sleep with him....wrong. And since we dated for two months he thought that entitled him to be my first...wrong again.

I'm not a virgin because of any religion nor am I waiting for marriage. I'll do the do when I'm good and damn ready...period.

"I'm single by choice."

"Yeah, whatever. Whatchu doing later?"

I kept walking. "Why?"

"Cause I wanna hang with you."

"No, you want to fuck me."

"Ugh, come on, Zee. That's not why...I really do like hanging out with you."

Matt nudged me with his shoulder. I can't lie, he is cute with his flawless brownskin and dimples. We did have some fun times too.

"Go to Mya's party with me Friday."

"She's having another party? I know her neighbors be pissed."

We both laughed cause Mya is a party girl. She'll use any reason to drink and turn up.

"Are you going?" I asked.

"I don't know...Are you gonna stop being stingy?"

I rolled my eyes. "Never mind."

"Wait, I'm just teasing...when did you start being so sensitive. Listen, I'll even pick you up."

"No, I'm driving. Be ready at 8."

I walked away before he could respond then I caught Paula Rhodes staring at me. She's another reason I won't get back with Matt, I caught them fucking in his car at a football game. The look on his face was hilarious.

I figured he was getting sex from somewhere since I wasn't sleeping with him. Honestly, me staying a virgin has really helped me easily move on from relationships...there's no love lost.

Ignoring her, I got in my car and my phone buzzed. It was my little sister.

"Hey Kizzy, what's up?"

"Can you pick me up from school? Sheila's not answering her phone and Dad is on base."

"Okay, I'm on my way."

I pulled up to my sister's school, she was the only one sitting outside and that made my blood boil. Sheila was my Dad's wife, they got married a few months after my parents split. I'm 98% sure they were having an affair while he was with my Mom.

"Hi Sissy Pooh. You look pretty."

My little sister took my parents divorce really hard, especially since our Dad got full custody of us. He and Sheila had my little brother four years ago when Kizzy was seven and I was sixteen.

"Thanks," she said with a sad face.

Soon a red BMW screeches into the parking lot and pulls in front of my black Nissan Sentra. Sheila jumps out angry with my little brother sitting in the back seat. He waved and I waved back.

"What are you doing? I'm picking her up today."

"It's cool, I got her." I smiled.

"Kizzy, get out of the car."

"No, I got her. Can you stop acting crazy and move your car?"

Sheila put her hands on her hips then swung her waist-length braids over her shoulder.

"You're so disrespectful...all I've ever been is nice to you, Zena. What is your problem with me....seriously?"

"Stop being dramatic. My sister called me to pick her up, cause obviously you forgot about her. We all make mistakes, Sheila...it's cool."

My words didn't seem to ease her mind but I didn't care. She intentionally pulls these stunts to have control over Kizzy and I'm not letting it slide anymore. I told my sister if she needs me, call me and I'm there....no questions asked.

"Kizzy, get out of the car now!"

I put my car in reverse and got out of there. Sheila was yelling as I drove off and my little sis began to giggle.

I grinned, happy I could put a smile on her face.
