"Begone! Begone! Begooone!" The monster yelled in its disoriented voice

"Bwaaah!" Deuce yelled

" Aw, crap! He's got Loosey-Deucey on the ropes! Not on my watch! Heeyah!" Ace spoke, Running to go help the said guy and pulling out his magic pen

"Rrroooarrrgh!" The ink monster yelled, irritated while slashing at Ace

"Ooof!" Ace groaned, getting thrown back

"Myaaah! Stay away from me!" Grim screeched, hiding in y/n's hair

"Grrraaawrrr!"

"It's like nothin's even hurtin' it!" Deuce yelled in shock

"Did you just see that sparkle?!" Y/n suddenly spoke up innocently

"Behind the monster! There's something sparkling in the mineshaft!" Ace yelled also noticing it

"Could that have been a magestone?!" Deuce asked.

At the mention of the magestone, the monster perked up and roared out

"GWAAAAAAAH! Nooo giiive yooouuu stooooooone!"

"Y/n , we need to book it, and fast! That thing's gonna pound us into tuna paste!" Grim yelled out, tugging on her long locks.

"alright! Let's run back then" she spoke, pulling her braid and Grim into her arms so it would be easier to run

"GRRRAAAWRRR!" The monster yelled out, chasing after them

The three (considering grim wasn't running) rushed out of the mine, hoping to loose the freaky monster that protected the magestone.

"This should be far enough, I think?" Grim questioned, still shaking from fright

"Owww... What was that thing? No one said there'd be anything like that!" Ace complained, leaning his elbow on y/n's shoulder

"That was no normal ghost, that's for sure." Deuce commented, panting

"Let's just give up and go home. I'll happily take the expulsion if it means never having to fight that thing again." Ace spoke up, ready to leave

"What?! Nuh-uh, not happenin'! I'd rather die than get expelled from Night Raven!
How can you give up when the stone is right there?" Deuce suddenly yelled

"Pfft. Big talk from someone who's not even half the mage I am. You want that stone so bad, go get it yourself. I'm out." Ace insulted, turning around and dragging y/n with him.

"Oh YEAH?! Fine, go back to your coop, you big chicken! But don't take y/n with you!" Deuce finally snapped, dragging y/n back with him

" Whaaaaat?! Who're you callin' chicken, huh?! And I can take whoever I want with me!" Ace yelled, yanking the girl back as Grim watched everything that was happening from the sidelines sweatdropping.

"Whoa, Deuce... Is it just me, or did you, like, turn into a totally different person just now?" Grim finally commmented

"Huh?! *Cough* *Cough* Sorry... Lost my cool for a second there." Deuce spoke up embarrassed finally letting go of y/n's arm

"Eh? So now what?" Y/n questioned the two boys

"Can't you guys just blow that thing up with magic?" Grim asked

"The headmage said it himself... magic has limits.
If you can't strongly visualize your magic, it isn't going to happen." Deuce sighed as he spoke

"Using magic at a greater scale, or using different types of magic - those things require training." He continued

"Yeah, that's why magic academies exist.
It takes a lot of training before you can snap your fingers and turn your thoughts into magic.
And the more flustered you are, the more likely you are to make mistakes." Ace spoke up, also finally letting go of y/n's arm.

"Oh, I'd assumed spellcasting just came naturally." Y/n spoke, sheepishly rubbing the back of her neck while thinking about how easily her healing magic came to her

"Nope, although if the magic's your specialty, you can use it more intuitively." Ace commented

Y/n gave him a appreciative smile and then spoke innocently while turning to grim

"So that's why kitty can only summon fire."

"Hey! I'm gonna learn how to use WAY cooler magic than that, for the record!
I'm just hittin' my stride here!" Grim yelled, weakly punching the girls knee

"Anyway, we need to find some way to defeat that creature and get the magestone." Deuce spoke

"Yeaaaaah. Just like the time with the chandelier, right? You "found some way," and now here we are.
We just fought that thing and it creamed us. So what exactly is your plan here, genius? Because I sure don't trust you to improvise!" Ace sassed back to Deuce

"What?! You're the one who-

"Aaand they're at it again." Both Grim and y/n deadpanned at the scene

" So I guess let's all just get expelled, then." Y/n sighed sadly, her shoulders drooping a little

"What?" Both Ace and Deuce turned to the sad girl and tried to console her

"Whoa, that was harsh. Where'd that come from?" Grim questioned

"You said it yourself - we can't hurt that thing." Y/n sighed, gripping her frying pan tighter

"M-myah..." grim complained, latching onto the girls leg

"Urk... But... But what are we going to do then?!" Deuce asked the female

"Why not try cooperating a little?" Y/n questioned

"With Loosey-Deucey? No way. He'd get me killed!" Ace yelled, visibly cringing at the thought of working with the blue haired boy

"Like it'd be some treat for me to work with you?!" Deuce scooted away from the red haired boy after sassing back

" come on? Wouldn't it be better if we all just worked together?" Y/n spoke, shaking the two boys by their shoulders

"What if we came up with a proper plan first?" She spoke with pleading eyes

"A proper plan? Like some kinda buddy move?
Is that a joke? You always say the lamest things with the straightest face, y/n." ace spoke, trying to discourage the female from making him work with deuce

"Agreed. No way could I work together with him." Deuce spoke up

"Yeah, but... Gettin' expelled on the first day... That's pretty lame too. Maybe even lamer."
Grim butted into the conversation

"W-well..." Ace couldn't find any other reason after that

"......" Deuce just stayed silent also having no excuse then

"Yeah, there's nothing cool about that! And I did have one idea..." y/n spoke

"Gah... Fine. Let's just get this over with, then.
All right, y/n. What's the plan?" Ace sighed, giving in.

The four went back into the mine after she had explained the plan.

"Y/n ... Is this plan of yours really gonna work? I'm sca- I mean, I'm a little... uh, hungry." Grim questioned, tugging on the girls hair

"Don't worry! I think this could really work!" Y/n spoke, thinking about how it worked in those books she had red that her mother had Brought back.

"It really could. Let's go, y/n!" Deuce spoke, pulling the girl along and away from ace

"Let's do this" ace spoke up, latching onto y/n's other hand.
