Chapter 23

He observed her go towards a certain door before he turned away in thoughts of coming to inform you about this. She was your sister after all and one of the reasons you were there was to support her.

As soon as he took some steps, however,  he saw you getting inside and once you spotted him, you smiled and sped up your pace to reach him.

" Believe it or not,  it's actually colder out there as minutes passed by. " You gave him the reason you got inside in a playful manner but he just leaned by the side of your ear, catching you unprepared for that close proximity.

" Someone made your sister burst into tears. She just took her leave. " He informed you and you instantly stepped back to meet his eyes as a fit of momentary anger started awakening in you.

" Who?" You threw your eyes towards the corner your father and grandparents were, already knowing that it must have been one of them.

You stormed away after that, and Jimin processed to catch up with you and lead you towards the door he witnessed her go. On the other side of it, a long hallway awaited you that left you in momentary confusion about which way to go but some workers appeared by a corner that were just straightening their postures,  making you assume that they must have bowed to someone.  Hoping that that someone was your sister you rushed towards that direction and Jimin followed a few steps behind you.

After following hallway after hallway for a bit, you finally took a glimpse of a part of her dress right before her figure disappeared fully behind a door. A door which once you halted before it, you found yourself hesitating to enter so you threw your eyes towards Jimin.

" She needs you. I really don't think she is mad at you right now. " He replied as if he had read your thoughts for the fact that you had argued badly the last time you saw her, crossed your mind.

You gave him a nod before you just opened the door and got inside,  making BreeAhn look up in panic from the corner of her bed, which she had occupied and had brushed off some tears of frustration only for new ones to surface.

You rushed to her upon witnessing her teary face and brought her to a hug once near enough,  making her feel more vulnerable than she already was. 

" What's wrong? What nonsense did they say?" You questioned her as she tightened her hold on you for she was in need of that comfort.

In all her life, no matter how many had tried to comfort her on her sad days, their hugs could never come close to the feeling of security your hold always gifted her. A feeling you had deprived her of along with your everyday presence in her life.

"It's nothing...it's just-" She held her tongue as she pulled away unsure if it was okay to utter her fear.

" Hey, you can trust me. I am here" You held her hands as you reassured her and she let her facial expression soften.

"It's about Ray. Father doesn't know but his family is having some economic problems and I thought father wouldn't mind much if something was to change in his status but earlier,  because of your companion, they started speaking about how someone of a higher class would never look at someone like you and me. There was a time that I thought father would understand but he agreed with grandma,  he was laughing-" She paused her words as she squeezed your hands that were still holding on to hers.

" If they find out I think they will never allow me to marry him."

" Now now, what are you even saying? Such a thing won't happen.  You don't have to listen to them. Just wait here, I will go fix this, okay?"You reassured her before you caressed her head a bit then stood up and turned around, showing your angry gaze only at Jimin who was standing a step inside the doorframe.
