Colin began this night as he had done all the rest for the past three months. He laid his head down and thought of his child and Jennifer-holding them both in his arms again.

"I'll come home soon." He spoke to the picture of his baby. Placing it on his chest, he then heard a whistling that seemed strange. Removing himself from his lying position-placing the photo in his breast pocket, he peaked his head out but found only a guard asleep at the end of the hall.

"Hello?" He whispered, his voice carrying to the other cells. From what he could see, they had all been asleep. Aside from himself and the mysterious whistler.

Giving up on his search since he was confined, he sat back on his bed but saw a hole in the wall across the room. He looked through and saw a man's eye. Another single whistle took place before the man had Colin come toward the hole.

"Is it true? Did you do it?" The man asked in a low tone.

"No. Of course not."

"Oh. Well I heard that you are in pretty deep...Caught red handed and such."

"I don't believe I should be discussing this with someone as yourself...What did you do?"

"Stole some cars..."

"That doesn't seem too bad..."

"And killed a cop..."

It was unnerving to Colin how calm this man had been through the entire conversation.

"Listen...here's the thing. I am getting out of here but need help..."

"Why would I help you? If you get caught it means more time for the both of us."

"We won't. Do you know the laws about an inmate being ill?"

"What do you mean?"

"They must get medical attention. So one of us would fake an illness and then knock out the guard. Then take their uniform and lock them in the cell in our clothes. The guard at the end of the hall looks more like me so I am guessing I'll do that part. Then I will unlock you and set you free..."

"Why would you do that?"

"I saw you just had a kid...I wanna get back to mine too. That's all I have been trying to do..."

"I don't know..."

"Well I'm going to do it in two days time so tell me when you do know."

Just then, the man disappeared and Colin looked through the hole and saw a man sitting away from the hole. His back was toward him.

He was stuck now between a rock and a hard place. He knew he was innocent but also knew Cynthia would not let him go so peacefully. He dreaded each night away from Jennifer and desperate to hold his newborn. Leaning back against the wall he was desperate for another visit from Jennifer so he could discuss the circumstances.
