Alright! Let's get into it.

Joe Hawley POV

Those memories flushed into my brain as I stared at Rachel. She was here, the last place I wanted her to be. Not just because she's annoying, but because a certain new songwriter is here that she definitely won't like.

There's absolutely no way I can let her know about y/n. If she does, she might hurt her, or get her to lose her job.

I couldn't worry about her right now, because of course, introductions were at hand.

"Heyyy! NCLD what is up bros!" I heard Rob speak out from my left. He was acting strangely hospital and I think I know why. To butter em up.
Smart Rob.

Rob, Andrew, and Zubin all awkwardly talked to the group of people from NCLD, but I simply kept my head down.

Unfortunately, It didn't work.

I heard an unmistakable voice gasp, and I couldn't help but wince.
"Joe! Oh my Goodness! Is that you?"

You know it's me. Thats why your here.

"Oh. Rachel." I mustered as much disinterest into my voice as humanly possible. "Yup. It's me. Joe."

"You look amazing! I love the hair."

Ugh. I can't take this interaction anymore

Unfortunately if I walk away it'll be direspectful to Neil Cicierega's company. We can't have that. We're supposed to be making deals with them on albums to improve our popularity.

"Ok."

She frowned ever so slightly, before perking right back up.
"Omg did you hear? I'm actually planning on moving in nearby!"

Please NO.

"I think the place is called (hotel name)."

That instantly caught my attention due to it sounding so familiar. I had heard that name. Maybe I've stayed there?

My eyes widened slightly, and Rachel noticed and giggled. But my eyes weren't widening at whatever she thought they were.

'That's y/n's hotel!'

I jumped up out of my seat and everyone stared at me.

"I uh.. got stuff to do-"

Rachel tugged my collar and pulled me close to her.
"Yeah, he has to talk to me for a bit. I think we might collab on an album! We'll hang around for a bit. See you guys later!" Rachel grinned.

No no no no no no no no-

She grabbed my sleeve and left the studio, which dragged on to a sidewalk that led into town.

"Where do you wanna go? We need to catch up."

"ќ"
I meant to say no but was so distressed by the fact I needed to hang out with her that it sounded like it tore from my throat. Which it did.

It's not like I can even fight back! I have to keep a good reputation.

Her phone dinged and she took it out her pocket. Her phone case was EXACTLY what I thought. Clear case with a poloroid picture. Of course.

"My hotel rooms ready! Let's go check it out!"

"ACTUALLY WE SHOULD GO TO A RESTAURANT OR SHOPPING! EHEHhhHehh!" I blurted it out in panic instantly. And of course, she didn't take a hint and just replied with, "nah, this is more fun! We can talk on the way."

We arrived at the hotel and walked up the red patterned carpet stairs.(i swear every hotel has this) I couldn't help but fiddle my fingers because I knew Y/n was here somewhere. I can't let Rachel the psycho realized we even hang out.

Trying to break the ice because I'm a completelysweatymessofpain, I said "what room u in." As monotone as possible of course.

"Room 316. It's crazy because-"

And I've tuned out.

It's weird. With Y/n, I'm hooked on every word she says, always paying attention to the slightest things she does. If she frowns, I frown. But with Rachel, I couldn't care less if she frowned. And I definitely don't want to her her flap her gums about some nonsense.

"Here we are!"

She fiddled with the key for a little bit and I leaned back on the wood post.

My ears twitched when I heard the door next to Rachel open. A neighbor I guess.

"Ugh! It's not working! Oh-"
Rachel bumped into the neighbor and I turned my head, realizing luck was not on my side.

Rachel was face to face with none other than
Y/n.
