The light in the ocean tunnel was dim. The environment was quiet, and it was very easy for the atmosphere to cause people to have misconceptions. The good feelings Ning An had of Qiu Yan easily turned into like. He had almost accepted the confession.

But it was still almost. Ning An had hesitated for a moment and then spotted Fu Ke. That person probably thought that he was good at hiding.

How should he describe his mood at that time? It’s like a lost person suddenly found the right direction, and those strange feelings that had disturbed his heart suddenly found the right answer.

He had also said to Qiu Yan that he shouldn’t mix up gratitude and liking. Ning An laughed at himself while he was picking the souvenir in the store. He was the one who had mixed up his feelings.

Who knew when it happened. Cupid always liked to be mischievous.

Ning An liked to be with him. He was a little happy when he was hugged. He would feel unhappy when others tried to strike up a conversation with him. He would also constantly look across from the balcony towards the other side.

Was the anger he felt from being seen as an Omega really just because he had thought of him as a brother but the other person wanted to top him? He already knew the answer.

But Fu Ke was an Alpha, and he was also the top-tier amongst the Alphas. There were no lack of Omegas going after him. Biological instincts were powerful. An Omega’s pheromones were very attractive to an Alpha. He knew this a long time ago, just like when that intruder barged into his house, and also that time when Fu Ke hugged him in the shopping mall. He knew that Fu Ke had reacted. Ning An thought about it and felt that the reason could only be because of Qiu Yan’s pheromones.

There was an ambiguous line between friends and lovers. Crossing that line was just like taking a gamble. Ning An didn’t dare to cross that line; he didn’t dare to gamble. He couldn’t win against biological instincts.

It’s better to just stay as friends.

Time always flew quickly. Without realising it, more than half a semester had passed. In addition to schoolwork, Qin Zhao would also call Ning An to his office for some ‘preferential treatment’. Ning An felt that he was always very busy. Lying on his bed, he suddenly recalled that he hasn’t seen Fu Ke for quite some time.

He missed him a little.

Fu Ke felt that Ning An was avoiding him. It wasn’t intentional, but the number of times they saw each other had decreased, and when they met, it would usually just be a greeting.

The school was big; it was very easy to avoid someone.

“You seem to be out of sorts recently.” Qin Zhao sat opposite Ning An with his elbow resting on the table and supporting his chin in his hand. “What happened? You look like you’re trapped by your feelings.”

“No, I’m not.” Ning An avoided Qin Zhao’s hand that was about to poke his forehead. “I’m very good. Do I look like someone who would be trapped by feelings?”

“I think you’re just stubborn.” Qin Zhao stuffed a piece of gum into his mouth. “If you have any questions regarding your feelings, you’re welcome to come find me for advice. I have a lot of experience in this area, so I won’t charge you a consultation fee.”

“Then would I have to pay you hush money?”

“Bingo! I’ll give you a discount since you figured it out. How about it?”

“Then I really must thank you, instructor. I didn’t know that you would be so concerned about your student’s emotional life.”

“Oh, thank you for your compliment. This is my duty as an instructor.”

“No, I wasn’t complimenting you.” Ning An placed the materials that were sorted out onto the table. “I’m done. I’ll be leaving now. Goodbye instructor.”

“Hey, wait.” Qin Zhao quickly stood up. “I was just joking around. Your reaction is just like you were caught red-handed.”

“Instructor, you’re overthinking it.” Ning An paused and pressed down that tiny bit of guilt in his heart. “Is there anything else? It’s already late. I’m heading back to the dorms.”

Qin Zhao stopped calling after him. Ning An hurried towards his dorms. The night wind blew against the trees under the street lamps lining the sides of the road, their shadows swaying about on the ground. Ning An wrapped his collar even tighter. When he looked up at the sky, he saw two people out of the corner of his eye standing in the shadows of the street lamps. It was Fu Ke and Xu Yu Sheng.

The night was gentle and the lighting was soft. The two of them didn’t notice any other people. Ning An then heard a question: “Can you be my boyfriend?”
