Natahimik siya, pero ramdam ko pa rin ang nanghihinayan niyang mga tingin sa akin. "Once we graduate... w-where would you be?" I can suddenly felt the nervousness on his voice. It's like something shifted on his mind when I mentioned it. Bahagya akong natawa bago tumingin ulit sa kanya.
"If you don't mind, can I stay w-with you? Pagnakabundar na ako ng sariling apartment, I promise I won't bother you--"
"Bakit ka pa magpupundar eh nakapangalan na sayo yung apartment?" Pinutol na niya yung mga sasabihin ko pa sana.
My cheeks heated and I felt my tears surfacing again. My heart jumped from where it lies that I feel like melting on my spot. Lumapad pa lalo ang ngiti ko. "S-Sigurado ka ba? Who knows what could happen between the two of us within those years..."
"Well, I couldn't wait for that," he grinned widely. "We would have plenty of time to work on your 'loving-me-back' plan. Exciting, don't you think?"
Naitupi ko ang mga braso ko. "Hindi ako madaling k-kunin."
Gusto kong murahin ang sarili nang lumabas ang mga salitang iyon sa bibig ko. I couldn't believe I just said that! Wala na ba talaga akong may masabi pa?
Rhysand just laughed loudly. Napasandal pa siya sa upuan niya kakatawa at bahagyang tinampal pa ang manibela. "Talaga lang, ah? Wala namang may nanligaw sayo, ah?"
My smile dropped. I leaned closer to him then slightly punched his arm. He just continued laughing while avoiding my hand. Napaismid ako bago umayos ng upo sa sasakyan. Such a jerk.
"But, come on. You know what I mean... You already love me, Aria. Level up nalang natin ng konti pa. We could really work, you know. It only takes a chance, and we can have that now." He sounded full of hope, like it's something worth to look forward on.
Napangiti rin ako kahit papaano. I hope so...
"Paano ang mga pamilya natin, Rhy? Alam ba nila na... tinutulungan mo ako? Business partners sila ng mga magulang ko... Don't you think they would know this from them?"
"They already knew it from me, Aria. That night when I went to your house..." agad niyang sagot. "I guess what happened that night gave them a clear message. If they don't plan to keep you under their roof, then I will."
His face went stern. Napakagat ako sa ibabang labi at dahan-dahang tumango sa kanya. "But w-what if... What if they'll need me? Ang mga kapatid ko... Si Dian, Calli, at Bea..."
"You can still be a big sister to them, Ri. Hindi ka nagkulang at hindi ka magkukulang. You can always see them," he said understandably. "Gusto mo bang mamayang uwian pupunta tayo sa school nila? It's not that far from here, right?"
My eyes widened. "Really?" I couldn't hide the excitement on my voice. I miss them! I miss sisters so much... especially Calli.
He nodded with a smile. "So? We'll go?"
Mabilis akong tumango. "Oo naman! I couldn't wait..." I heaved a breath before looking out the window. That somewhat lessened my fear. At least kahit papaano'y sigurado pa rin ako na may magandang mangyayari pa rin sa akin ngayong araw na ito.
Seeing my sisters would mean a lot. Because I really, really do miss them. I've been taking care of them ever since they were born, and it's hard for me to be apart from them this long. Kung may isang responsibilidad man akong hindi kayang bitawan sa buhay ko, iyon ay maging ate nila.
Nang makapasok sa parking lot ng school ay agad na kaming bumaba. Medyo maaga pa para sa una kong klase kaya ayos lang. I would probably be the first one on our room which is a good thing. At mabuti nalang din iyon para makapag-ipon pa ako ng mga ipapaliwanag.
