Chapter Sixty-Three

Start from the beginning

"Lily, shit, you sound like such a guy right now!" JK laughs, his eyes wide with shock and amusement.

"Ugh, so how much is this going to screw up our business?" I ask Ha-Kun while I try and come to terms with what is happening.

"It's really actually not. You just got a reputation for being K-Pop's 'It Girl,' and from the comments, I've been reading, you're like the industry's new rock and roll badass. There will be a lot of people that want to work with you still."

"You think?"

"Yup, but you have to be careful now on with the dating. You'll be a target now."

"Argggggg! Why is dating so hard?" I laugh.

"Lily, you have to make careful choices and have your partners sign NDA's from now on," Tae says, rubbing my shoulder with sympathy. "You're too well known now."

"I never for a moment thought I would be in a position like this!"

"You'll be okay," Tae says gently, and I lay my head on his shoulder.

"You're going to be fine, Lil. If I was into women, I'd think this photo was hot!" Ha-Kun laughs as he turns and leaves the room. I can still hear him chuckling as he walks down the hall.

"Honestly, I should be furious, but I know I broke her heart. She shouldn't have lashed out like this, but I don't believe it was about making money off this photo," I sigh. "She just wanted me to hurt as much as she is right now."

As much as I know I should be angry after all that has occurred in the last few years with surprise singles being released, my interview with that DJ going viral, and my pictures on Hobi's Instagram page, all this chaos is starting to feel like the standard, which is such a strange thing to admit to myself.

"You are way too nice, Lil. I'd be pissed off. I would knock a bitch out...." Jae defends, and JK smiles, pulling her into him, grinning down at her.

"Such a fighter, my tough girl!" He chuckles, placing a kiss atop her head, and I watch her eyes light up.

"See, where do I find this kind of love?" I say, waving my hand up and down in JK and Jae's direction, I complain but with an appreciative smile.

Tae slides his arm around me, "You know, Lil. We could have a sixth child. Maybe it will save our marriage."

Laughter erupts, and after a few moments, we go back to discussing JK's upcoming single release.

I'm so embarrassed. I'm definitely putting dating on hold for now.

I've thrown a diced green pepper, sweet onion, chopped garlic, and one finely diced carrot into the olive oil I have heated in a large pot on Hobi's stove. The smells mingle together and permeate the air. When the vegetables begin to soften, I add a large can of diced tomatoes as well as a can of crushed tomatoes, mixing them well.

Pawing through the groceries I've brought with me, I pull out a variety of spices. Adding some salt to the mixture and a bit of pepper, then comes basil and oregano, along with onion powder and garlic powder for good measure. I mix the ingredients and put a lid on the pot.

"Lily, it already smells so good in here! I had no idea you could cook like this!" Hobi says, delighted from his perch on the barstool at his kitchen island.

Laughing, I smile at Hobi. I love that even though we've been friends for quite some time, he still finds things out about me that he deems interesting.

I open a package of ground turkey into a bowl along with seasoned Italian breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, and an egg and mix it all together with my hands.
