The next day
Shawnie's POV
I walked into the kitchen where I saw Aubrey sitting at the island on his MacBook.
"What are you up to?" I ask going into the freezer and pulling out a pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream.
"Playing a little bit of Roulette." He says, not breaking eye contact from his computer.
I roll my eyes. "Again?"
I get a spoon out of the drawer and I'll walk over and sit on his lap. I opened all the ice cream and dug in.
"Again." He says, wrapping one arm around my waist. He looks at me for a few seconds, then he speaks again. "Ice cream for breakfast?" He asks
"Yup, and I'm pregnant, I can do anything I want." I laugh and he shakes his head.
"How was your sleep after I got out of bed?" He logs off and closes the MacBook.
"I missed you, but it was okay. I really couldn't fall back asleep though." I explain
"I hate to have to say this but you know..."
I cut him off. "I know you won't be around as much."
"I love that I've had so much time off and the shit that I did have to do, I was able to move around to accommodate you....but it's not always going to be like that."
"I knooow." I get a little irritated at his comment. He's been trying to prepare me for when he's gone and I hate it. I don't want to think about it.
"I'm in a position where I have the authority to cancel or postpone but I can't do that all the time. You know I'd rather be home with you, so whenever I can, I'll be home to lay on your chest." He says, "And when I'm gone, don't think I won't pull up on you. I have eyes on you at all times, and security briefs me a few times a day."
"What are you trying to say?" I give him a spoon full of ice cream. After he's done eating it, he speaks.
"You're in good hands even when I'm not around. So, with that being said, do you want to stay here, LA, or go back to Toronto?" He asks
"Toronto. I need my peace and it's so peaceful there. I don't care for the Hidden Hills house. And there's too many ppl rolling by wanting to see the YOLO Estate." I say using air quotes. "And I refuse to stay here. The Bridle Path house is perfect for me."
"Okay. I was just checking. Security will be there 24 hours, and—."
"Loosen your grip." I kiss his temple, "We have a couple more months before everything kicks off."
He laughs, "Yeah, I know I have a tight grip on you. It's for a good reason. I just want everything set for you. I don't want to leave you."
"I know baby...I'm going to be okay. You really need to work on that." I say laughing.
"I'm going to lose it when I have to leave you and the kids."
"Don't think about it." I say
"You should be happy I can't function without you...own that shit!!"
"I do." I smile
"You need to start the interview process for Atlas's nanny." He says
"Baby I know. Don't stress me out."
"Never." He says smiling. "You know...I'm loving watching our son grow inside of you and everything but I can't wait for you to have him."
"Why?" I ask
