V: It wasn't about him. It's just- You look cold.
Y/n: I'm fine.
V: No you're not. You're basically shivering.
Y/n: I'm fine. I just wanna take a walk and enjoy the sunrise.
V: Wait for a second.
Y/n: What?
V: Take my coat.
Y/n: Vinnie...
V: I just don't want you to be cold.
Y/n: Fine, but I'm not taking it home, so you're gonna have to walk with me.
V: I can do that.
I took his jacket and we walked in silence. I already told my mom that I wasn't coming home now. I'm not a baby anymore. As long as I keep in touch, she'll be fine. Vinnie doesn't know the city, so he doesn't know that I'm walking away from my house and to the river. I just wanna see the pretty sky on the water. That's it. That's all I want right now.
We got to the grass and I sat down. Vinnie kept walking for a few steps before he realized. He turned back around and sat next to me. We stayed silent. We both knew that if we spoke we'd ruin it.
Vinnie laid down and I joined him. Just like Spence and I had looked up at the stars, we looked up at the pretty colors in the sky. With Spence, it felt platonic. With Vinnie, it... It just didn't. His arm was under my head so that my hair wouldn't get all messed up in the grass. It's little things that he does that makes it hard to be mad at him.
He could tell that I was still cold and he pulled me in closer to him. He didn't smell like alcohol or weed or anything. He smelled like himself. I couldn't help but to want to be closer to him to savor it.
V: Beautiful.
Y/n: Isn't it?
He didn't respond, but he looked at me. I don't know if he was talking about the sky or not. I made eye contact with him. I watched his pupils dilate as we stared at each other. Fuck... I can't crack from one look. I can't.
I felt a tear roll down my cheek and he brushed it away before it got to my chin. He then tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, never breaking eye contact.
Why? Why do I love this man so much? Why is it that we can go from screaming at each other and wanting to break shit (or literally breaking shit), to having a moment like this? It doesn't make sense. None of it makes sense.
The sunrise was over and I stood up. I still didn't want to go home.
Y/n: Where's your hotel?
V: ...What?
His eyes lit up.
Y/n: I'm not going inside. I just want to keep walking.
V: Oh, well let me check maps. It's a few blocks away.
Y/n: Ok, let's start walking then.
We got to the outside of his hotel around 7am. I've been out for 9 hours. Thank God I slept for most of the day and Marc gave me a RedBull, or else I would be asleep in the middle of the street somewhere.
V: Well, this is me.
Y/n: It's nice. Pretty.
V: Thanks. My manager booked it. I'm just glad I have a room with a warm bed that I don't have to share with the tour.
Y/n: Yea, I can't imagine you having to share with them.
V: I'm so glad I don't have to. Hotel rooms tend to get a bit lonely though.
Y/n: Yea, that's true. They're not home.
V: Nope.
Y/n: Well, it's getting late. Actually, it's way too early for me to be out right on a Sunday. So, I'm gonna head home.
V: Ok. Be safe. It was nice to see you.
Y/n: Yea... Bye, Vinnie. Have a safe flight.
V: See you, Y/n.
I walked away and he went upstairs. That was a somewhat satisfying ending. Though, it's hard to call it that. I don't think we made any progress, but I also don't think we made any setbacks. I'm not really sure what happened, but it was... something.
I got a quite few blocks away before I realized that I was sweating. I was just so cold, how am I- Oh, shit. I still have his coat. The one reason—maybe not the only reason— I asked him to walk with me was so that I didn't take his coat.
