I faintly heard the sound of a song that I loved as a child. It was a song from 2010, Just a Dream by Nelly. The lyrics went:
"I was thinking 'bout her, thinking 'bout me, thinking 'bout us, what we gon' be
Open me eyes yeah, it was only Just a Dream"

Just a dream... Just a dream... It was only just a dream.

V: Y/n, wake up! It's just a dream. It's only just a dream. Wake up, please. Please, wake up. Please...

I heard Vinnie's voice calling out to me. I fluttered my eyes open and a bright light shined right into my eyes. I flinched.

The nurse pulled her hand away and stopped shining the little light in my eyes. She apologized and left me in the room with Vinnie.

V: Y/n, can you hear me?
Y/n: Vinnie?
V: Yea, it's me. Are you feeling ok? You scared me.
Y/n: I remember you.
V: Of course you do. Why would you forget me?
Y/n: I remember you!!
V: Yes, you do. What- what's going on?
Y/n: I-I remember...

I started crying. Vinnie grabbed onto my hand. I was in a hospital bed, Vin was in that stupid fucking wheelchair, and I had the same nurse, but why did I remember him? What happened?

Y/n: W-where's Jax?
V: How do you know that Jax is here?
Y/n: What do you mean? I spoke to him earlier.
V: No, you didn't.
Y/n: What? What do you mean?
V: You've been in a coma for the past 19 hours.
Y/n: What?? A coma? How di- What do- A what??
V: Calm down. Please. You're ok. The doctors made sure everything was ok.
Y/n: So we did get in a car accident.
V: Yes, we did.
Y/n: And it was Parker and Kayla that hit us?
V: How do you know that? Could you hear the whole time?
Y/n: I-I don't know.

This was too much for me. First, I couldn't remember anything. Next thing I know, none of that was real. But, it was at the same time.

It was the same crash, the same people, the same everything, except for what involved me. I made it up! It was only just a dream... Nelly was right!

Y/n: Is Landon here?
V: Yes, he's with your parents talking to the doctor.
Y/n: And Blake and Amelie?
V: Yes, wow you really heard everything. They didn't go back to LA, they went to Amelie's house out here.
Y/n: Do I have to move in with my aunt?
V: We don't know yet.
Y/n: This is so overwhelming.
V: Can I ask you something?
Y/n: Yea.
V: What was in your dream earlier? You really freaked me out.

Y/n: I forgot who you were. I forgot everything that happened over the past two years.
V: Oh...
Y/n: You were in the bed next to me, same injuries and everything, except I had no idea who you were.
V: Two years?
Y/n: Two years were gone, just like that.
V: That's why you asked for Jax.
Y/n: Vin... It was a dream. It didn't mean anything. I just knew he was here.
V: No, I mean in your coma. A few minutes before you woke up, you called out Jax's name.
Y/n: Oh.
V: You started freaking out afterwards. That's why I told you it was a dream and that everything was ok.

Y/n: Vin, it was so scary.
V: What else happened?
Y/n: I kept hearing your song. It was like it was on repeat. In my dream, you played it for me and our whole relationship flashed before my eyes. I was holding your hand, but I didn't know who you were.
V: That's because of me.
Y/n: What?

V: You remember If I Stay?
Y/n: Yea... why?
V: The guy played her music and she didn't die. She woke up because of the music. So, I asked the nurse if I could give you my headphones and she said yes. I was playing your playlist, but I wanted to see if you remembered my song at all. I played it for you and you squeezed my hand. It was the first sign of you actually being conscious.
Y/n: Oh... wow.

V: Yea... So, after it ended I played another song, and you let go of my hand. So, I played it again, and you held on tighter. So, I just kept playing it for you, then you shouted out for Jax, so I changed the song.
Y/n: Did you play Nelly?
V: Yes, why?
Y/n: I heard it. That's the song I heard. When did you stop playing?
V: The nurse was checking your pupils, so I took them back. Then, you woke up. You really scared me. I thought I was going to lose you again.
Y/n: You can't get rid of me that easily. But, I guess our plan of spending the rest of summer together is kinda ruined.
V: Yea, I guess so.
