I wake up to the sound of doctors buzzing around me, making sure I am fine. I try to remember what happened before that when my right hand man, Flatyus, approaches me.
"Nikola, what happened to you? Why did Malhun Hatun's name cause you to react like this? Look at the state you're in now. You should be planning how to attack Osman but you are here, lying on the bed like an idiot." he complains.
"Flatyus, shut up." I command, but I feel my cheeks turning hot. I think about the first time I saw her.
It was in Sogut a few months ago. I was walking through the streets with my soldiers, looking around the city when suddenly, I saw her. She was walking alongside Bala Hatun, Osman's hatun. They both were looking at the rugs, Bala Hatun said something which made her laugh. She looked around and I caught her eye. She frowned and turned away. I turned to Flatyus and asked him who she was.
"Her name is Malhun Hatun, daughter of Aliyar Bey."
