(Chapter 133) Ballrooms and Battlefields

Start from the beginning

There was shrill screaming and chaos ensuing all around her, but her mind couldn't grasp reality and distorted her senses until time slowed as her vision and hearing hazed in and out of focus.

Slowly, Selice's eyes glossed towards the stage. People were bolting manically in a mob, trying to flee from the dance floor, where a sea of bodies laid out and dyed the white stone red. Her heart sank and she scanned the massacre for Loy.

She forced herself to her feet.

Bodies of people rushed around her in blurs of anarchy as she tried to force herself towards all the dead bodies morphed into one flat hill before the stage, where Loy last was, but another flash of light from the stage along with deafening screams made her drop where she stood to her knees in terror. Selice's throat closed up from the fear, and she couldn't breathe. The only thing her mind could hold onto was Loy and how she needed to get to him, but more blood-curdling screeches petrified her in place.

"You consolidate in your castle and conspiracy the death of millions!" From the stage stood a woman,  screaming at the top of her lungs at anyone remaining alive.

She blindly shot out streams of magic, killing random attendants as she spoke to them and at the ballroom itself— which to her was just as deserving of slaughter for its cloistering of evil.

"The thousands of innocent lives that will be lost so you can hold onto your ounce of power while damning the world!" The woman shrieked in a fit of anger so deep it did as much damage to her vocal cords as her magic did to those she bludgeoned.

Yosphenine noticed a group of Conclave members cowering in the back, some old classmates of hers. Her enhancer stones aroused from her abrupt anger. With her enhanced magic, she split the stone columns above their heads, crushing them to death.

"Before you can take any more lives in your quest for tyranny, I will kill you all!"

One of the attendants of the party tried to sneak up on Yosephine as she ranted, but he was promptly blasted down by her accomplices, of which there were many, and who had hidden amongst the crowd all night for this one purpose.

"Get everyone out!" Punditwood shouted to Enzelwood, being one of the first on the receiving end of the attack able to think and fight back.

The destruction magic teacher looked as terrified as everyone else but moved to do as he told. Enzelwood picked up one woman who was about to be trampled on, darting for the stairs.

The woman's accomplices were smart though, and they waited until a great number of people had tried to flee through the stairs before they collapsed the thousands of pounds of stone from underneath them. The unfortunate majority of those fleeing were smashed under the mass of crumbling boulders instantly.

Enzelwood, with all his might of destruction power, could only stop the boulders from decimating himself. He knelt solely around the rubble where limbs or severed heads broke free from stone.

Seeing everyone attempt to flee just enraged the Yosephine further, and reminded her how spineless they were, they wouldn't even fight their own battles to save their own lives.

"I will see this country burn before I let any more evil go unavenged!" She screamed as she gathered random debris from all around her and formed them into a giant circle that she lit on fire.

Yosephine rose the ball of burning materials up to the broken ceiling, melting it into a blazing thick liquid.

Lucy arrived at the ballroom and as soon as she pushed open the doors, a blistering intense heat pushed back against her. She fought against her drying eyes to look up and see a swirling floating ball of lava sucking up all the oxygen in the room. It was making the sound of a thousand steaming tea kettles as all of the materials melted together. Lucy shielded her eyes enough to see that the staircases had been completely blown apart, destroying the only exits.
