Chapter forty one

The accident spread like a wild fire in just three days. Nagkaroon ng problema, hindi lang sa shop kundi sa credibility ni Finn. People questioned everything he does. They even got mad knowing that there were people that was hurt under his care. I don't get people why they kept on putting the blame on him. Eh, hindi n'ya rin naman 'yon ginusto. But because this project is his, he's accountable for all of this.

We haven't talk yet. Hindi pa rin s'ya nagpaparamdam at pumupunta para sunduin si Malia at ihatid sa school. I explained it to our daughter when she asked me about it. Namimiss na raw kasi n'ya ang daddy n'ya.

Even at the company, they were talking about that. Kanya-kanya sila ng haka-haka tungkol sa nangyari.

"Sabi kasi, napabayaan ni engineer Finn ang site. Si Engineer Malvar ang naroon, pero si Engineer Finn daw ang nagbudget. Eh, hindi yata afford ang ibang supplies kaya tinipid n'ya. Ayon, bagsak."

"Tinipid? Bakit naman titipirin? For sure, nagbigay ang president ng sapat na pondo para sa shop. Hindi kaya... Binulsa n'ya?"

"Grabe naman kung gano'n. Gipit na ba s'ya? Di ba, galing s'ya sa canada? Marami na rin s'yang natapos na project na hindi naman nagkagano'n. Why would he pocket some money? Wala naman sa mukha n'ya ang magnanakaw..."

"Kahit na! Sabi nga, looks can deceive. Oo, may hitsura talaga si engineer Finn. Crush ko nga 'yon, eh. Pero after what happened, I guess, I have changed my mind now."

Tinignan ko lang sila habang lumalakad sila sa harapan ko. I want to say something but I don't want to worsen everything. Ayaw ko nang palakihin pa ang gulo kahit pa malaki na talaga.

"Aveen, okay ka lang?" I blinked when I heard Serenity's voice beside me. Lumingon ako sa kanya at pilit na tumango.

"Yes." I nodded.

"Tara na. Naghihintay na si Ferial sa shop n'ya."

"Okay." Sumunod na ako sa kanya sa paglalakad. Binagalan pa nga n'ya para makasabay ako. She clung her arms on mine.

"Wala talaga silang magawa, ano?" She asked, glancing at the group of people who's bypassing on our side. I heard Finn's name again. "Hindi pa nga nila naririnig ang buong kwento."

"Ikaw, Aveen? Naniniwala ka bang kasalanan ni engineer lahat?"

"He's not like that," I whispered. "He won't put someone into harm for his own sake."

Kilala ko na si Finn noon pa lang. Oo, makulit s'ya at siraulo. Nakakainis s'yang kausap at talagang masisiraan ka ng bait. Pero hindi s'ya nagpapahamak sa amin. I was actually the one who causes them trouble.

"Nakakainis talaga! Ito pa! May nabasa pa akong masyado raw nirarush ni Finn ang shop dahil sa deadline! Di ba, president wants to open the shop within four to six months? Sabi, masyado raw s'yang nampepressure!" she sighed frustratingly. "Pero feeling ko, hindi naman gano'n si Finn. He's so cool. Isa pa, I heard from Dio that Finn gives consideration to his workers. If they need to rest, he will give that."

"People make assumptions before they could even see the truth. They judge so easily without hearing the side of the others. People acts like they know everything when in fact, they are only holding a piece of information," I said. "Sometimes we have to accept the fact that we can't please people. That no matter how good our intentions were, they will misunderstood that and will twist your intention into bad."

"Grabe na talaga ang earth," she replied, shaking her head.

We headed at Ferial's condo where she told us to come over. Serenity drove her car. Hindi naman malayo ang condo ni Ferial dahil malapit lang naman 'yon sa shop n'ya.
