It Started on Lazy Day

Part 10

"Sonic?" There was someone at the door, "Are you okay?" It was Ray.

"Yeah, I'm fine just... I just..." It felt like the world was spinning around me.

"Sonic!" Ray opened the door and grabbed me just as I lost balance, "You're burning up... Are you sick? What's wrong?"

"No, no I'm fine it's just..." I took a moment to catch my breath. It was the best time to tell him, "It's the side effects of the suppressants..."

"Suppressants? Sonic, only omegas are supposed to take those you'll end up in a hospital..." he quieted down, "You're taking them because you're an Omega..."

"Yeah... They make me dizzy here and there..." I couldn't get my body to cool down.

"Why do you hide it? The fact that you're an omega," he asked.

"I don't want to be treated delicately... I don't want to be limited because of this... I don't want anyone trying to do anything to me..." I tried to get back up but my body was too weak, until I cooled down I wouldn't be able to do anything.

"Sonic... You idiot, you are delicate," he held me there, as we sat on my bathroom floor. Tails kept the others from coming close. According to them, you could smell my scent from the hallway.

"Is he in heat?" I heard Amy talking to Tails.

"No, it's just some of the side effects. You know heats are more intense than this," Tails answered.

"You're going to ask me to keep this a secret," Ray said.

"You already knew," I laughed as the feverish feeling I had began to fade.

"All of your friends are alpha's. What are you going to do if I'm not around when you go into your first heat?" Ray helped me get back onto my feet.

"Well hopefully, you'll be around," I held his hand, "Ray... I wanted to tell you because I trust you. You're my only beta friend and if you can't do this I understand."

"I'm doing this. We have the exact same schedule, I might not be able to be around with you on weekends, but I will protect you at school. Nothing will happen to you on my watch," he hugged me, "I still get to eat some of your lunches right?"

"Yeah, anytime," It hadn't gone exactly as planned but it didn't matter.

Ray knew, and he was going along with my secret. I finally had someone to help me in school who wasn't an alpha. Ray made me lay in bed since I was still dizzy, but the others sounded like they were having fun. When I came downstairs, all the food was gone and Ray was washing the dishes. Amy was picking up trash, and Blaze was attempting to give Tails the drink he wanted.

"You guys didn't have to clean," I tried to reach for the last plate and Knuckles grabbed me.

"We did after something like that happened to you," He made me sit down on the couch and would push me back down each time I tried to get up.

"I'm fine. It's nothing new," I gave up on trying to help, Knuckles could too easily put me back onto the couch.

"Nothing new? That's never happened to you before!" Knuckles snapped.

"It happens every night. I wake up with a fever and kick off the blankets. I wake up freezing the next morning, it's the only way I can get myself to cool off," I had told Amy all of this, Tails knew before her. I hadn't told everyone.

"Knuckles relax," Silver pulled him back, "It's one of the side effects of the suppressants. All of the omegas in school get an extra recess to rest because of it. If anything Sonic should be resting more and in an omega classroom."

"I'm fine, I get my lazy day tomorrow guys. It's really not a problem at all," I managed to get them to back down but I knew what they all wanted...

They didn't want me lying about being a beta anymore. They wanted me safe in the privet classes with the other omegas. I understood why, it was in their instinct to protect omegas. Male omegas like me were a lot less common than females. We were treated way more delicately than our female counterparts because of it.

No one can know. I'm not going to be treated like a baby, I'm not going to be treated like a toy alpha's fight over. I'm not going to be told I can't date a beta or another omega. I will live my life as free as a beta can.

Everyone went home after everything was cleaned. Tails was finally full after dinner. He was eating so much lately.

"Tails, come here let me measure you," I waved him over with a marker in my hand.

"You think I got taller already?" He came and stood right at the doorway.

"You've been a lot hungrier. I think," I marked his height and smiled, "You're going through a growth spurt."

"Wow, I did get taller!" He beamed as he saw the mark, "How much taller?"

"Let's see," I took the ruler we kept nearby and measured the distance, "A whole inch! You're gonna end up being taller than me I think."

"Yeah!" He was happy the rest of the night until bedtime.

I laid back in my bed after showering and making breakfast ahead for Tails in the morning.

Tomorrow is lazy day... I can't wait... to do... nothing... ... ...
