Watching the sun set
in my eyes
in her eyes.

_____

Her voice on the phone
I tremble.

_____

Walking hand-in-hand
feeling cotton's warmth
against my bare arm.

______

In the moonlight
waves
from
waves

_______

Bare trees on a silent night
like my memories of her
and love itself.

______

Naked exposed trees
my wounds
of the past.

______

Silent winter night
the sound of waves
the comfort of her arms.

______

Feeling numb
my face where
tears have frozen.

--------

Curled up like an infant
alone
remembering her.

--------

The memory of her voice
indistinct like the sound of waves
takes my breath away, still.
