Odd Squad one shots {requests are open}

New in town (Otis x Olympia)

Olympia happily strolled down the sidewalk as Otis walked beside her, just enjoying each other's company as they headed home. It wasn't that dark out yet, the sky just displaying a sort of pinkish/orange color.

"Thanks for walking me home, Otis. I hope you didn't mind walking instead of taking the tubes this time. It's just so beautiful out, and I um, I kinda wanted to spend some more time with you...." Olympia rambled, becoming a bit nervous as she over thought what she was saying.

"Olympia, it's ok. I don't mind walking today, and I don't mind spending more time with you either." Otis said with a small smile, making Olympia smile also.

"Ok. Thanks, Otis." she replied before just going back to talking about whatever random topic that they had been discussing earlier. A little ways behind them, there was a girl around their age who was also heading home. She was new in town and lived close to Olympia's house. She had brown, curly hair and was wearing a pastel purple top, paired with white jean shorts.

She didn't mean to eavesdrop, but she couldn't help overhearing Otis and Olympia's conversation. When they neared Olympia's house, Otis waved to Olympia as he slowly walked away. "Goodnight. See you tomorrow, partner." he said to her, Olympia repeating that same thing to him as she smiled.

The curly haired girl tilted her head to the side in confusion. "Partner?" she mumbled to herself as she watched from afar. Why were they calling each other partner? And what was even weirder to her was their outfits. She found it strange that they were basically wearing uniforms/suits instead of normal casual clothes. Now she was extremely curious....

The next day, she told her parents about it as she ate breakfast and got ready for school. "And they were wearing suits and ties like they were adults or something! It was so weird.... but it was kinda cool too." she excitedly explained before taking a bite of her cereal.

Her mom chuckled a bit. "That sounds really interesting, Oria." she commented with an amused smile.

"You have such an active imagination, Oria." her dad said.

"It really happened, dad! I'm not imagining it." Oria replied, figuring that her parents thought she was making the whole thing up. She put her dishes in the sink before putting on her pink backpack.

"Ok." her parents reacted, chuckling in unison. "Have a great day at school, honey. We love you."

"I will. See you tonight, love you." and with that, Oria headed out the door.

Oria's school was really close to her house, so all she had to was walk there. She got distracted though when she saw the same two kids from yesterday; the girl with the auburn ponytail and the quiet guy with the brownish-blonde hair, sporting the same sophisticated uniforms as the night before. Forgetting all about school, Oria found herself following a fair distance behind them as they walked to who knows where.

She was beyond amazed, and a little weirded out, when she saw them run behind a tree and into a blue flash of light, disappearing from view. "Whoa...." Oria trailed off. What was going on? Insanely curious, Oria waisted no time in following them, running behind the same tree as a blue flash of light appeared. Next thing she knew she was traveling through the earth in a small red sphere, it feeling sort of like a rollercoaster ride as she zoomed through these strange, see through tubes.

Soon, Olympia and Otis arrived in the tube lobby, greeting the tube operator like usual. That's when Oria finally showed up, emerging from the red tube pod as she gazed around the place in awe, Olympia and Otis instantly turning to face her.

"Wow! What is this place?" Oria wondered aloud in amazement.

"Hey, wait, why are you not in uniform? Are you some kind of intruder?" The tube operator, O'Malley interrogated her, eyeing her cautiously.

"Um, no, she's with us." Olympia quickly claimed to keep O'Malley from jumping to conclusions.

"Oh, well ok then." O'Malley said, Otis and Olympia just leading Oria into the main part of hq.

"Um, thanks for that back there. I'm not an intruder just so you know." Oria thanked them, laughing slightly.

"No problem." Olympia beamed. But Otis was a little more skeptical.

"So who are you actually? I mean, you don't work here, do you?" he questioned cautiously.

"Oh, I'm Oria. I just overheard you two talking the other day, and I was curious why you called each other partner. And why you were wearing uniforms. Then today I saw you walk behind that tree and there was this flash of blue light, and well, I just couldn't help but follow you to check it out for myself." Oria explained.

"Oh, well I'm Olympia, and this is my partner, Otis." Olympia happily introduced.

"Hey." Otis simply said with a nod.

"Hi." Oria couldn't help but smile as she felt relieved that she wasn't in trouble.

"We work here at odd squad, solving odd problems. All the investigation agents here have partners, so that's why we call each other that." Olympia clarified.

"Ohhh, that makes sense. And you know, I don't mean to weird but are you two a couple too? Because it sorta seemed like it from your conversations and the way you interact with each other." Oria shamelessly asked, Otis and Olympia blushing like crazy.

"Um, we're best friends." came their awkward simultaneous reply, though it was clear from the look on their faces and their pink tinted cheeks that they were crushing on each other.

Before they could discuss the awkward topic any further, Ms O had walked up to them, asking who Oria was and what she was doing here. Once they explained the whole situation though, Ms O understood.

"Ah, I see. Well, Oria, I must say, your investigation skills are top notch. We could use someone like you on the force." Ms. O complimented.

"T-thank you." Oria stammered a bit, almost frozen with excitement.

"How would you like to be an honorary odd squad member?"

"Wait, seriously? Yes! Yes, of course! I'd love that!" Oria instantly reacted, her smile wide as ever.

"Great. Consider yourself Honorary Agent Oria." Ms. O replied with a smile.

Oria was extremely happy, so glad that she was curious enough to find out about odd squad. She then went to school, smirking as she thought about how her parents would totally believe her now. Exciting things can happen when you're new in town.
