Chapter 24-Mason's Heart

(Charley's POV)

I don't know how long I was reading ,but it was long Mia had to pull me away to eat something I was in shocked he wrote something to me everyday enclosed in every letter was a check at first it was small amounts but through the years the money increased at some point he was sending checks that was designated for my college funds..thousands of dollars with instructions for me to cash them when I graduated high school .The money was only a small part of the shock the very first letter was almost 20 pages explaining exactly what happened that last night. I wasn't given much time to process what I reading I needed more answers and thank god I didn't have to wait long

Aiden was calling us for a meeting Raven finally moved and I was on pins and needles

So Mia and I headed to his office to get some information
The room was in full swing
It was Matteo who made the announcement
"She made an international call" he beamed
"It was short and she used a disposable phone but we where able to track it and to make this even bigger news she bought a ticket to Colorado"
He sighed "which makes no sense"
"But the good news is we are about to intercept her leaving and bring her back here we our finally going to answers"
With that my mind went back to Masons first letter
(So I was trying to write it like he was writing Charley a letter I apologize for any confusion or if it's not flowing properly)

Dear Charley ,
I hope this letter reaches you in good health.I know you hate me .I wish I was there in person ,but Maxwell has made it impossible the night before I left I had every intentions of bringing you with us .I needed you to be with us. That night Maxwell did the unthinkable when I  confronted him that night about   the bruises I lost it .The first time in my life I had enough .All the years of abuse unleashed and we fought I never felt so alive in my life .I finally was able to take him and for the first time I saw true fear in his eyes I told him I was leaving and we would never be back again in the mist of getting our stuff he came in the room heated and just like most weak men tend to do he came armed and crazed. I could tell he got high his eyes was deranged he had the gun pointed at me and I was prepared to fight, but he said and did the unthinkable
"Ohh I'm not here to kill you ..ohh no that would be too easy" he snarled
"Since your such an alpha now I'll do you one better" he moved so quick as If the drugs he took gave him super speed  and  grabbed you I have no clue how you didn't stir, but you stayed asleep as that monster held you I heard the gun click and his face morphed into something so sinister I can't even describe it accurately
"I been sick of this father role since the day that bitch decided to be a mother ..boy I'f that woman pussy wasn't so good I'd been left" he speech was now slurred
"If you dare try to take this girl outside my house I'll kill her and your mother died" he whispered the words
"You think you're a man huh ?.A real man is willing to make sacrifices and I'm willing to lose it all to prove a point! ...You think you're better than me better than us just cuz you're smart I'm the reason you even have brains ..I was gifted always was but...." He stopped speaking and spaced out
Charley I'm not sure if you knew Maxwell was bright that's what are mother loved about him, but he got into some dark things and soon lost his mind.That was the first time I saw him talk about himself
I tried to  grab you from him, but his hold was strong "I'm not playing boy I'll kill them all hell I might even off myself..Make it a double murder and a Suicide that sounds good finally we all can rest as one ...Sound peaceful doesn't it ?" The sick bastard smiled
"Yeah doesn't ..Don't she look tired ..I know I'm tired" he pointed the gun at your sleeping head and than to himself and he smiled more determined than before
"Maybe ,I'll just kill all 4 of us you look tired too boy "
At this point I was enraged and in tears "Please ...let her go please ...she's your daughter you don't want to hurt her...She's innocent ..please let go!" I begged now on my knees
"Ohhh now you want to say please ..huh?What happened to Mr.Get Bad you had no sorry when you stepped up to me boy" he angled the gun deeper into you head  he looked at me satisfied with my kneeling position .He through you back on the mattress as if you were nothing and stepped to me "You can leave but you're not taking a thing of mine out this house and if you dare come anywhere near her or this house I will kill them and don't try to sneak away with her I'll find y'all and I'll kill you both and that bitch you been hanging with..what's her name Raven Hills?I promise you boy I'm not one to play with I have nothing to lose" he now pointed the gun to me"Get out and don't ever comeback!" He snarled lowly
Defeated I walked to you gave you one last hug and left too scared of what he might do to you.I never seen a person looked so crazy in my life he was dead serious Charley and I never felt so powerless.I hate to admit that I was scared More like terrified I would rather he threatened me than you ..He took a gamble and he was willing to kill my heart in front of me ..Charley you are my heart.I never would have been able to stay in that house without you my beautiful amazing little sister please remember that .You are my heart the first person to elevate the pain of that house you gave me strength by simply living and he threatened to kill my strength...as I was leaving I came up with so many ideas on how to take you away from him but I didn't have the money or a solid plan and to top it off ...Raven was pregnant..I couldn't risk losing the child and you at the same time so left I never regretted anything so much in my life ..Charley I'm so sorry
