NATASHAS POV

Avery giggled as I wiped powdered sugar off her nose. I wiped my fingers on a tea towel as Steve walked down the hall.

"Good morning lovie"

He sat down at the table beside Avery and popped a strawberry in his mouth. I put a plate of pancakes in front of him with a proud flourish.

"Ah, so thats why there's icing sugar everywhere" he kissed my nose and licked the icing sugar off his lips. I laughed and kissed him properly. My phone rang and I wiped my sticky fingers on my trousers before answering, the three of us still laughing loudly.

"Hold on one second Tony" I threw my phone on the table and Steve put it on speaker while I walked into the kitchen.

"Ok go" I yelled from where I stood at the sink.

"I need you to come down here. I've got some great news" I walked back the table while drying my hands.

"Uh yeah sure, I need to pick up some things for Avery anyways. I'll see you in like...half an hour?"

"Half an hour! You live like 5 minutes down the road!"

"And I've got a toddler covered in maple syrup and icing sugar"

"So wh-....wait what? You know what, never mind. Just get here soon" I scooped Avery up from her chair while Tony hung up.

"Lets get you cleaned up missy" I carried to her the kitchen and sat her on the counter beside the sink.

Once I had wiped away any traces of the sticky substance and the sweet powder, I carried her back to mine and Steves room to change her out of her pyjamas.

"round and round the garden like a teddy bear" I traced circles on her palms. " one step. Two step. TICKLY UNDER THERE!!!"

She laughed and tried to wriggle away from me. Squirming and screaming. Steve appeared at the door and chuckled. I picked Avery up and turned to face him.

"Uh oh....I think the tickle monster has a new victim" Steves smirk fell from his face and he darted down the hall, me and Avery hot on his trail.

We ran in circles around the couches, throwing cushions and jumping over armchairs. Yelling and screaming until I finally caught him and tickled him to the floor. Avery ran in circles around us while I attacked Steve with tickles. His hands jutted out and he grabbed Avery. Tickling her until she screamed. The three of us in a pile, laughing and being tickled.

We laughed for a while and then Avery jumped up, racing down the hall in her diaper. I looked to Steve and we both had the same realisation at the same time.

It was a terrible decision to excite a sugar high toddler

We spent the next 10 minutes chasing Avery down halls and under tables and trying to calm her down. I scooped her up from her hiding spot behind the armchair.

"Come on you messer, lets get you dressed" I slung her over my shoulder carried her down the hall, she giggled as she swayed behind me. I lay her on the bed while I rooted out an outfit and a clean diaper. I put her in a little polka dot dress and put a little bow in her hair.

I picked her up again and she lay her head on my shoulder, letting out a big yawn

I picked her up again and she lay her head on my shoulder, letting out a big yawn.

"Oooo, somebodies going to nap in the car hmm?" I walked back down the hall and grabbed my car keys.

"Goodbye steve"

"Love you"

"Love you more" I smiled and pulled the door shut. I secured Avery in her car seat and gave her her paci. She fell asleep pretty quickly. The car ride over was pretty quiet apart from tiny little snores from Avery as she slept. I carefully lifted her out of the car seat. She fussed a little but quickly settled again in my arms.

Tony greeted me as I walked in "yeah one minute Tony, I'm just going to put her in her crib" he nodded and retreated to the kitchen.

I carried Avery up to the nursery and cradled her for a little before lowering her into the crib. I pulled the blanket up to her waist and tucked her bunny in beside her. I kissed her forehead and pulled the railing up.

"Love you baby girl" I whispered before slowly retreating out of the room to find Tony.

I walked into the kitchen and put the kettle on to boil "so, this 'great news'?"

"Ah yes!" He sat up a little straighter and looked excited. I turned to grab a cup as the water boiled, placing it on the counter.

"I found her mother"
