AVAS POV

It had been a few hours since her surgery and Natasha still hadn't woken up. Evan had brought me a coffee, but then left for work. I felt so alone. There was a knock on the door and a tall, well built man with piercing blue eyes walked in, he looked shocked to see me

"Um hi, this is ms Romanoff's room, right?"

"Yes it is" I suddenly remembered him, he was the kind stranger from earlier

"O, I'm sorry for crying all over you earlier" he smiled at me, still uncertain.

"O, thats ok. Um...how do you know Natasha?" I looked back at her and smiled slightly

"She's like a sister to me. What about you? I'm Ava by the way, Ava Johansson."

"I'm Steve, Steve rogers. I know her from....work" i looked up at him, from work, i should know who he is.

"Are you um....part of....."

"Yeah i am" he cut me off "are you?"

"Yeah. Natasha trained me"

"I trained with Natasha, she's still the only person who can beat me in hand to hand combat" he laughed quietly and looked at Natasha

"How is she?"

"The nurse said that the surgery went well, we'll just have to wait for her to wake up" he walked over to Natasha's bed, he stood on the other side and then brought over a chair, he picked up her hand and i suddenly felt awkward. I stood up and walked over to the door

"Want anything to eat?" He looked up at me and shook his head. I could see the tears in his eyes and i quickly left the room. I wandered around the hospital for a while, not quite sure where to go. After an hour of wandering i went back to Natasha's room. I picked up my bag

"Hey, I'm going to head home really quick just to freshen up. Here's my number, will you let me know if anything happens?" I handed him a slip of paper and he nodded at me. I smiled at him and looked at Natasha before i left.

I left the hospital and walked to the nearest hotel, home was too far away. I checked in and headed up to my new room. I threw my bag on one of the beds and headed into the bathroom. I tied my hair up and jumped into the shower, letting the water wash away the hours of tears i had cried. I washed my face quickly and got out of the shower. I pulled my clothes on and realised that they were filthy covered in my tears and natashas blood. I ran downstairs to the small shop on the ground floor, i found a pair of decent looking leggings and a large hoodie with 'i <3 NYC' written on it in big obnoxious letters. I paid for them and went back up to my room. I pulled them on and went down stairs. There was a small cafe there and i went in. I bought an apple and a bottle of water and headed back over to the hospital.

I walked back into natashas room and steve looked up at me, he laughed lightly at my jumper

"Shut up, its the best thing they had" i smiled back at him and sat back down in the small plastic chair
