CHAPTER 34: RUN
ENYO'S POV
Naalimpungatan ako sa pagtulog nang manuot ang lamig sa katawan ko. I turned around but instead of finding Stone, there's nothing but the empty side of the bed. Mukha rin na hindi nahigaan ang parte na iyon ng kama.
May mga pagkakataon na hindi ko na nahihintay si Stone na makauwi. Even though I know that he'll leave early the next morning and probably while I'm still sleeping, it's enough for me to feel him in the middle of the night wrapping his arms around me.
Umupo ako sa kama at inabot ko ang cellphone ko na nasa bed side table. Kunot ang noo na tinignan ko iyon nang wala mang kahit na isang mensahe na galing sa lalaki.
I typed a message for him and after sending it, I stood up from the bed and went out of the room. Wala ring note.
This is not like him. I'm not the clingy type. Hindi ako nag e-expect ng mensahe mula sa kaniya kada oras. I also don't expect him to come home on time as if he's on a schedule. Naiintindihan ko na pabago-bago ang oras niya, dahil sa trabaho rin namin na pagiging secret agent ay wala rin naman kaming naka-fix na oras o araw ng trabaho.
Pero mula nang mapunta kami sa Paham Wingkag at makauwi ay walang lumipas na araw na hindi ko siya nakakausap kahit sa phone lang. When we decided to sleep on the same bed every night, there's not one day that we didn't end the day at the same place. Kahit hindi pa namin sabay na gawin iyon.
I sent another text to him before I went to the bathroom to take a shower. Nang matapos at makapag-ayos ako ay dala ang cellphone na lumabas ako ng flat ni Stone para tumuloy sa control room. Nang makarating doon ay naabutan ko si Freezale na kasama si Nyx. Freezale's working but Nyx is sleeping. Malamang puyat. Sa umaga tulog 'yan eh.
"Freeze have you seen Stone?" I asked her when I stepped inside the room.
"Why? Did you lost your husband?" Nakataas ang kilay na nilingon niya ako. "Mukha na bang information desk itong control room?"
"Kapag hinanap mo si Stone, ililibre kita ng breakfast."
She rolled her eyes but like I expected, she turned back to the monitors to look at the cameras surrounding the whole place. Hindi ko nga alam kung paano niya nagagawang i-handle ang lugar na ito. Ang pinaka ayoko pa naman sa lahat ay iyong natotoka kami para mag duty dito. Imagine staring at endless monitors for hours. Si Freezale lang talaga ang matiyaga.
I watched her replaying some footages but after awhile she stopped and turned to me. "He went home around eight in the evening. He stayed for half an hour pero umalis din siya."
Wala pa ako sa BHO CAMP ng mga oras na iyon. Mag a-alas dose na kami nakabalik ni Blaze sa headquarters.
Binuksan ko ang cellphone ko pero hindi pa rin sumasagot si Stone. I checked the recent calls pero kahit miss call walang nanggaling sa kaniya.
