*Marie's POV*
*one week later*
I sat on the guys couch in LA contemplating how I was going to spend the rest of my life.
"It could end tomorrow." I told Matt who was sitting next to me. "We won't know until it happens."
He looked at me. "We gotta live every day likes it's your last then." He smiles at me, and wraps his arm around me.
"Alright I'm here now, but thank you for keeping my girl friend warm." Jack says, walking down the stairs and then plopping down next to me.
I laid my head on his shoulder and smile.
"Let's do something today." He suggests.
"What are we gonna do?" I ask.
"Just me and you." He says, and I nod. "Let's just go get ready and we'll talk about what to do."
We walk upstairs hand in hand and I shut the door, locking it.
"Jack." I say softly. "This is gonna get crazy soon."
"I know." He says, we're just gonna have to stay postive."
"I don't know if I can do that." I admit.
I get dressed, curl my hair, and then put on my makeup for the day.
Jack gets dressed in a Nebraska state hoodie and khakis.
"Ready?" He asks, slipping on his Vans.
"Yeah." I say, grabbing my phone. I unlock it to check my messages and notice that Jackson texted me.
Jacks💩: hey sweet heart, how's LA goin?
I didn't tell them.
"Jack" I say.
"Yeah?"
"I never called my parents."
"Oh shit." He mumbles. "You have to."
"I just don't know if I can do that over phone." I admit.
"Well it's either back or fly back home which I think is something both of us don't want to do."
"Alright." I say gulping down something sour.
I dial our home phone number and hold back tears.
"Hey baby girl!" I hear my dad's voice.
"Hey daddy, uh can you mom and Jacks get on the phone please?"
"Is everything okay?" I hear my mom ask.
"Yeah, I just wanna talk,"
"Jacks!" My mom yells. I hear movement indicating that he's walking down the stairs.
"Your sister wants to talk to us." My dad says.
"Hey Marie." Jacks says.
"Hey jacks. So listen uh.... The other day, me, Jack, Cam, Nash, and Hayes. We were going to San Diego and I felt this pain in my head." My mom gasps and I can almost bet that gripping onto my dad very tightly at this point. "They took me to the hospital, and the doctors said that my cancer.... Is spreading. Rapidly." I can hear the tears and cries out of pain. Tears start streaming down my face too.
"Come home. Now." My dad says.
"What? No! I just got to LA I don't wanna come home."
"Marie your coming home whether you like it or not."
I pause. Is this all he's concerned about? "I thought you guys would support it not bring me down."
"Marie-"
"No. Don't call me anymore." I say, hanging up the phone.
I throw my phone and shrink down in a ball to cry.
"Why me?" I ask. "I'm not strong enough for cancer. I'm not strong enough to tell the people I love I'm dying."
"I love you." Jack says, putting his arms around me and holding me tight.
"I love you too." I say shaking.
"Come on, let's just lay down."
"No we're going to do something." I say.
"No, Marie, you need to rest."
"Why?!" I yell, obviously getting upset.
"Because your upset and-"
"Are you seriously telling me what to do?" I scream at him.
"Marie calm down!" He screams.
"Stop telling me what to do!" I yell back. "I'm not five years old and you can't push me around like that!"
"I just want to make sure your okay!" He says.
"I'm fine, now can we please go do something?!"
"No," he says softly. "I don't want to go anywhere your going."
"Fine." I say, "I'll go with the guys."
I walk out of the room and slam the door behind me.
