"Hey Y/N, how's the shift going?" My co-worker, Melina asked pulling a chair up to sit next to me.

"Great. It is my last day until I leave for maternity leave." I smile as I rub my 7-month pregnant stomach.

"Girl, I never seen someone who looked pregnant and not pregnant at the same time." She jokes. "So, how is Frank handling it after being fired?"

"Well, the secret is exer-" I pause at realizing what she said. "What did you just say?"

"Oh, uh." She stops to think of what to say, "I said too much."

As she starts to stand up, I grab her wrist. "No. You said too little. Sit back down."

"Well, as I heard from my best friend who is on Chelsea, Frank got fired." She says reluctantly.

"Who told you that? When did this happen?" I asked not gathering everything she was saying.

"I am not saying who told me, because I don't want them to kick my ass," she chuckles, "But it happened last week."

"LAST WEEK?" I yelled loud enough for others around to hear. "I have been living in the same house as him, but he has yet to tell me he's gotten fired from his job?"

"Calm down, we don't want you to go into an early labor. Just talk to him when you get home." She reassures. "Listen, we got some patients to get to. Don't think about it too much until you get home."

As I was talking to Melina, my pager goes off signaling that I was being called to the ER. I stood up carefully without hurting my stomach and head to the ER. But first, I send a quick text to Frank.

After another few hours of working, I finally head home. When I walk through the door, it is completely quiet, and all the lights are off. No sight of Frank or our German Shepard Enzo.

"Baby?" I call, walking to the lamp to turn it on.

"Right here doll." Frank says scaring the hell out of me.

"My god Frank. Are you trying to send me into a premature labor?" I put my hand over my heart to feel my heart beating faster than a running racehorse.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you I got fired. I just didn't know how to tell you. Especially that you're so far along into the pregnancy, I didn't want to stress you out. Even with your job that is already stressful." He rambles on and on.

"Babe, it is okay. I understand why you didn't tell me." I say wrapping my arms around his neck.

Frank kisses my cheek before putting his head on my stomach, "God, how did I end up with you. I am so lucky."

"I don't know Frank. But, if something like this happens again, I will kick your ass." I giggle as he falls asleep on my stomach.
