Enchanted Forest

"Hear my voice beneath the sea, Sleeping now so peacefully, At the bottom of the sea, Sleep for all eternity, Sailors live so-"

"Arista!"

I look in the direction of the voice.

A familiar mop of red hair is floating beside me.

That red hair could only belong to one person.

"Ariel."

Ariel my littlest sister swims over the the rock I'm resting on.

"Father said to tell you he wanted you to join him for an afternoon swim around Atlantis."

I cast my eyes to the pink sky and setting sun.

"Father only just told you?" I playfully ask.

Out of all my sister's Ariel was the most rebellious and adventurous of us.

Always finding a new underwater cave of shipwreck.

It drove poor Sebastian mad.

My suspicions were confirmed by the faint blush that appeared on her cheeks

"I may have collected some more objects from the human world and lost track of time." Ariel admits bashfully.

She holds up her bag of nicknacks.

Ariel has alway be enthralled by the humans.

In fact I've lost count on how many times she has disobeyed our fathers orders and observed them.

I've never seen the appeal but I humour her.

"Alright what have you found this time."

Ariel sticks her hand inside her bag and rummaged around.

"Here."

She pulls out what looks like a sort of miniature trident.

It was long and metal with three thin pointers.

I observe the mysterious item closer.

Never before have I seen anything like this.

"What is it?"

Ariel shake her head.

"I'm not sure."

She passes the metal mini trident to me.

I hold the metal so the pointers are facing away from me.

Maybe your supposed to poke people with it, like a game perhaps.

I poke Ariel, she lets out a small Yelp.

"Why did you do that?"

I hand the mini trident back to her,

"I think it's a poker, you poke people with it."

Ariel tilts her head in confusion.

"Why would humans want to poke each other."

I shrug my shoulders.

Who knows what humans partake in.

The sun has long since set.

I slide off the warm rock and welcome the caressing sensation of the sea.

"Come Ariel we best be getting home, before father sends the whole army looking for us."

Ariel and I dive under the water leaving the hustle and bustle of the human world behind us and welcome the familiar surroundings of coral, seaweed and sand.
