Chapter 3

Surviving the Apocalypse

Y/n POV

I looked across the entire street.

There were abandoned cars everywhere. Most in varying states of damage. 

They looked they had crashed into other cars.

There were also a few cars still burning as well.

No zombies were around so that was a bonus at least.

But there was no sign of life anywhere. The city was deadly silent. 

Eerily silent. I heard no growls, shrieks, or screams anywhere.

I glanced at Sakura and she looked worried as well.

"Alright. Does anybody else find this creepy?" She whispered.

"I kind of do." Nayeon whispered.

"We don't have much of a choice though." Tzuyu whispered.

"Yeah. We're going to run out of food soon." Chaeyoung whispered.

"Let's just hurry up and get this over with." Ryujin whispered.

"Alright. Head out and make sure to spread out as well." Sakura whispered and Nayeon and Jeongyeon followed her as she went forward.

Tzuyu, Chaeyoung, and Sana walked towards the right.

"Guess we go to the left." Yuna whispered and we headed that way.

We walked for a while until we heard a small growl.

We instantly froze and looked around.

My hand went to my pistol and I listened closely for any footsteps.

After a while, we heard another small growl but this time right next to me.

I whirled around and saw Yuna did the same.

We glanced at Ryujin whose stomach growled slightly.

"Sorry." She whispered.

I sighed in relief.

Yun cursed and rolled her eyes.

She reached into her backpack and threw a pack of crackers at Ryujin.

"Eat these quickly." Yuna whispered with a glare.

I giggled quietly at them.

Ryujin quickly opened it and stuffed all of the crackers into her mouth.

She chewed a few times before swallowing.

We stared at her with our mouths open.

"What?" She whispered.

"You're kind of like Momo you know." Yuna whispered.

"What's not to love about food? It's like my wife. I love it from the bottom of my heart and I eat it all the time." Ryujin whispered.

We both stared at her.

"We were going?" She whispered.

Wow. These girls sure are amazing. I thought shaking my head.

We turned around and kept going.

All we came across were more abandoned cars and some buses and trucks this time as well. All building looked broken-down or were not what we were looking for.

After a while, we came across a small convenience store.

I pointed for Yuna and Ryujin to check inside while I checked around the building.

They nodded and cautiously walked inside.

I looked around and spotted a small alleyway to the left of the building.

I walked inside and saw several splatters of blood along the walls and a large splotch of dried blood on the wall just before a corner.

I got out my combat knife and put my guard up. 

My pistol's going to be no use in close-quarters like this. I thought.

I cautiously walked forward and peaked around the corner.

I saw two bodies lying on the ground and some sort of digital device lying in right behind them.

The far end of this part also ended in a wall with a few bags of trash leaning against it.

I inched forward and peaked at the device.

It was like a glass screen but the material making up the screen looked more sturdy yet more clear. There was a small band that wrapped around the device and there was a large part on the top right of the screen that looked like a quarter of a circle. It had several diagonal lines running across it.

I inched forward again and inspected the bodies.

They were both covered in blood and one of them was wearing some sort of lab coat. The other was wearing casual clothes.

I sneaked forward and grabbed the device.

I held it up and it suddenly turned on and the screen lit up with green light.

"Starting user transfer." A voice said.

I gasped and almost dropped it from surprise.

The large part on the top right of the screen started scanning me with some sort of light.

The two bodies on the floor suddenly jerked and let out a low growl as they rose up.

I quickly leaped forward and stabbed my knife into the nape of one of the zombies.

It let out a small shriek before falling to the ground.

"Please stay still while scan is in process." The voice said.

A little hard right now. I thought as the other zombie lunged at me.

I barely dodged in time and pulled the knife out of the dead zombie.

I rolled out of the way, trying to keep the device steady.

The zombie lunged at me again and I dodged again causing its face to smash into the wall.

I quickly brought my knife down on its neck.

It tried to grab me but only succeeded in slightly scratching my leg with its nails.

Fudge. I thought pulling my leg away. Twice is going to kill me when they see this.

Are you not worried in the slightest bit that you might be turning into a zombie. Hoonie said.

You know Twice is scarier. I thought.

True..... Hoonie said. And well....I got this anyway so don't worry.

I saw some blood coming from the scratches.

I pulled out some spare cloth I gathered from the Security Building and wrapped it around my leg.

Then, I pulled my knife out of the zombie's neck and stood up.

"Scan complete." The device said.

"Hello Choi Y/n." It said.

The action is starting again. So what is this device? Certainly not one made by any companies that we know of.

Also, where did the device come from?
