Judge: "Kalia will be living with Mark Gonzalez."
~ back to reality ~
My face drops. I climb up to the podium. I pull myself up.
Kalia: "Can I say something."
Judge: "Yes."
Kalia: "Can't I get a say in this. I mean I am living with them."
Judge: "Unfortunately no. But if he lays a hand in you in an abusive way. You call the cops immediately and we will make Bryce your permanent guardian." I look back at Bryce. He gives me a half smile. I smile at him back.
Kalia: "Can someone help me get down." Bryce comes over, helps me down and we walk over to where our seats are.
Judge: "This meeting is adjourned." We walk outside and I break down in tears.
Kalia: "I don't wanna leave you guys. I don't wanna go with that abusive asshole."
Avani: "Hey, it's going to be okay. You can call us everyday."
Kalia: "That won't be the same tho."
Bryce: "How about if anything is wrong and you need us immediately, text the word yourbutt. We will go to help you no matter what we are doing."
Kalia: "Okay." We head home and I start to pack.
Kalia: "Can I sleep in your room?"
Bryce: "Of course princess."
-the next morning-
Mark comes to pick me up. I hug everyone for the last time. I get to Bryce and I squeeze him with all my strength.
Kalia: "Love you dad."
Bryce: "Love you too Princess." I walk over to the car and look back at everyone. They all have tears in their eyes. I wave and get in the car.
Mark: "Bout time you bi$$" he says once SwayLa disappears from view.
- 2 months later -
Mark hits me. I am in shock.
Kalia: "Thought you changed Mark." I run upstairs. I hear him yell at me to get my butt back down there.
Mark: "It has been 2 months. I think you should start calling me dad."
Kalia: "I will never ever call you dad." He lunges for my neck.
- Bryce's POV -
I am with my physical trainer.
Trainer: "10 more." My phone chimes.
Bryce: "Can u get that for me." He picks up my phone and chuckles.
Bryce: "What? I lift the barbell for the 6th time."
Trainer: "Kalia says some weird things." I laugh.
Bryce: "What does it say."
Trainer: "You sure you will understand."
Bryce: "Yes now read it." He nods and takes a deep breath.
Trainer: "It says your butt."
