I Did Something Bad - Monty x Reader

"Monty" you say softly as you touch his shoulder. He jumps at the contact, indicating that he wants to be left alone.
"Sorry.. I was in the hallway and heard someone cry. I couldn't just walk away."
He turns around to face you. His eyes are red and he's still crying.
"What's wrong?"
"Is anyone still here?" He asks.
"No, a few students who have detention."
"Oh."
"What happened?" You ask. You're not sure if he will tell you why he's crying. You're friends with him but you're not very close yet.

You reach your arm out to him again and this time he allows you to touch his shoulder.
"You can tell me what's wrong Monty."
He looks at you with his bloodshot eyes and then pulls you into him. His arms are wrapped around you and he keeps sobbing uncontrollably. The sound breaks your heart.
You rub his back lightly, trying to comfort him.
"It's okay." You whisper.

After he's calmed down he breaks away from the hug.
"You're too kind." He says, bringing a smile on your face.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" You ask him, wanting to know what makes him so sad.
He sighs and sits down as he dries his tears.
"I did something bad." He starts. "Something I can never take back."
You frown your eyesbrows. "What did you do?"
"If I'll tell you you'll never look at me the same way."
You sit down next to him and lay your hand on his.
"I don't believe that."
"I hurt someone, I scarred them for life. And I don't know why I did that, I feel sick now when I think about it. And I think about it all the damn time." He says with clenched teeth.
"I've done bad things too, everyone has. We all lose control sometimes. The fact that you feel guilty about it shows that you still have a good heart."
Your words seem to sooth him.
"I'm not a good person Y/N. You should stay away from me."
"I don't care what you did. I don't care who you were. You clearly want to change and I want to help you with that."
"You're much nicer than everyone else at this stupid school. You're too good Y/N."
He looks at you and has a slight smile on his face.
"Okay now I'm just embarrassed for crying in front of you."
You chuckle. "Don't be."

You realise that you really care about him and you're glad that you can be the one to comfort him and even make him smile on bad days.
