THE DEAL

MACKENZIE ZIEGLER

"ma, i miss you so much. please wake up." i said with a broken voice.

i've been sitting in the room beside my mother for hours now. she's still not moving.

"you don't know how much i miss you. i love you so much, mom. i'd do anything for you. i'm your little girl, what would i ever do without you? please don't leave me. i need you here with me, always."

i lay my head on her. i was tired, sad. i was lonely without her.

suddenly, i felt a hand trying to pat my head. i instantly got up. my mother's hand was moving. she's okay!

i hurriedly pressed the red button to call the nurses.

a nurse came and asked "what's the emergency?"

"her hand is moving!" i almost screamed.

this alarmed john, who was sitting outside the waiting room. he almost ran inside.

the nurse went out to call the doctor.

"she's moving?" he asked.

"yes!" i exclaimed with a big smile on my face. i jumped on john and gave him a big hug.

oops.

when i realized what i had done, i immediately pulled away.

"i'm sorry." i whispered, looking down.

before he could say anything, the doctor came in.

"let me check her."

john and i stood there in awkward silence.

i looked at my mother. i noticed her eyes were slowly opening.

"mackie?" she said with very less strength in her voice.

"mom!" i cried and was about to tightly hug her, but i realized that it could be harmful. so i gave her a gentle hug.

"i missed you so much." i cried into her arms.

"oh my mackie."

after a long and emotional hug, we finally pulled away, only to see john smiling at us.

we smiled back at him.

i felt so happy that i could jump.

but i knew this happiness won't last for long..
