Sorry that he was gone,
Sorry that everyone was hurting,
Sorry that she had cried so much that tears were gone.
She was sorry--
Sorry that it took death to reach out to him,
Sorry that she hadn't come closer sooner,
Sorry that she was reaching through grief to get him.
She was sorry--
in every sense of the word,
"I'm sorry."
