She hugged his sister first,
and held her while she cried,
neither of them
trying to stem the tears.
She held on tight,
as the girl in the arms
wept with the pain of losing a father.
Only 21 and fatherless.
She let go,
and turned to the brother.
Tears were falling down his face,
eyes red with sorrow and absolute emptiness.
Even though
she wouldn’t consider them close friends,
she knew what he needed.
She hugged him,
and her heart broke again
as she felt him sobbing,
andshaking in her arms.
She held on to him even tighter,
and they cried on each other’s shoulders.
Only 18 and fatherless.
