This is a ten-part poem I wrote when a family I am super close to lost their father completely unexpectedly. The poem is written from my point of view, and concerns 3 of my friends: my best friend at the time, then my 2 friends who lost their dad, one a boy, and the other a girl. The focus of the poem, while dedicated to the entire family, focuses mainly on the boy, because it was the way that he grieved that broke me the most. He is one of those people that is always laughing, joking, smiling-- you know the type. So to see him sobbing, shaking in my arms at one point, it was the hardest thing for me. I can't imagine what they all went through, but being close to everyone in the family, I grieved for them. This is a story of that grief.
