love is something i need,
and you have a lot of that
but i need understanding, too,
and you're falling short
you fear my capabilities
so you've caged me
in a futile attempt to tame me.
this is bondage of the worst kind,
unspoken,
unseen,
unheard
but not unfelt.
neither a beautiful bird
nor a beautiful leopard
is beautiful
in a cage,
don't you see?
i'll be damned if i lose my essence
because it's not what
you
like
or what you
deem appropriate.
