Vineet and Ruhana return from Mumbai and are happy. Ruhana is happy that Vineet is trying to grow out of his shell. He made her meet RD and made her happy. He did some things which made her happy. Ruhana is content at the moment, there’s nothing more that she wants now.

They’re home and after having dinner, they set to relax since they have to go to college the next day. Ruhana is settling her backpack when her phone rings. It is Priyanka and Ruhana takes the call. She jumps on her toes as she hears her best friend.

“ Are you serious, Pree? Is it actually gonna happen?” Ruhana asks, jumping in her place.

“Wow! That’s great! Let’s check out yar! And I will ask him too!” Ruhana chuckles.

“ You don’t know anything, Pri. He plays guitar so well. I will ask Vineet to take part in the fest. He has promised me that he won’t let me down.” Ruhana chuckles happily.

Yes, Vineet promised her that he will be the guy she wants him to be —her best friend. He already cares for her, but he knows that her share of care and love for him is always heavy than his part. Ruhana cuts the call and at the same time, Vineet knocks on the door. She holds his hand and pulls him inside, making him sit on the bed.

“Vineet, do you know, our college is going to organise a fest?” She asks him, she knows that he must have got the information.

“Yes! Main tumhe yahi batane aa raha tha.” Vineet replies.

“Yay! I am going to take part. You also take part, please.” Ruhana says, holding his hand.

“No, Ruu! I will see you on the stage.” Vineet says softly.

“Why not you? You promised me that you will be the guy I want you to be. Aur tumhe pata hain, mera dost na guitar bahut acha bajata hain.” Ruhana says, trying to convince him.

“No! It’s late, you should sleep.” Vineet says, changing the flow of words.

“Okay, You have time until tomorrow. Aur time nahi milega. Tell me what you decide. Come on, go and sleep!” Ruhana slaps his cheek lightly.

Vineet just smiles at her and leaves her room asking her to sleep. But, Ruhana could see a little sadness in his eyes. Okay, he has promised her that he will change and that coming out of the shell will take time, but this guy is sad at the moment. Ruhana knows it and she decides to check on him.

*****
Ruhana feels weird and then walks behind Vineet. She knows he’s a silent soul, but she wants to help him. She moves into his room which is adjacent to Ruhana’s but, he’s not there. She runs upstairs on the terrace.

The guy is sitting on the swing with his guitar in his hands and he’s playing a soft tune. The tune is his mother’s favourite tune and she loved when he played it, being a kid. Now, Ruhana usually asks him to play this very tune. Ruhana is looking at him and she knows that Vineet is pained while playing it —may be, he is missing his mother.

She walks towards the swing with cat paws and sits beside him. He’s lost in playing the guitar such that he didn’t feel her presence. Ten minutes later, he realises her presence. He looks up and finds Ruhana smiling at him. He blinks his eyes in order to hide his tears. She smiles at his act.

"You don't need to hide your tears from me Vineet. You know, you can't!" she says softly.

He smiles faintly at her. Somewhere in his heart, he knows that she is right. She sits beside him holding his hands. Vineet knows that Ruhana is right, but you can’t control your emotions, when it comes to your loved one.

Vineet and Ruhana sit in silence for a long time looking at the twinkling stars at night. They didn't need words to communicate. Maybe this silence is something they wanted for themselves. They let the silence do the talking and it is best for them. They don’t speak but let their heartbeats do the talking.

He comes out of his thoughts when she fell asleep on his shoulder. She looks calm and composed when she’s asleep. A smile lights up Vineet’s face and he lifts her in his arms carefully and walks to her bedroom. He makes her lie on the bed and he kisses her head softly.

A smile lights Vineet’s face when he looks at Ruhana’s face.

Yes, Ruhana is her reason to live or more and he can’t name this relation as of now. She argues with him, irritates him, fights with him, but at the same time, she also cares for him, and loves him the most. She can’t see him sad and she would do anything for Vineet, to uplift his mood and to bring him back. This pretty girl does it all. She’s the only light in his life.

He has realises it that she means more to him than what he considers her. Back in Mumbai, she got upset with him and didn’t talk to him for one whole day and he felt restless. And she gets upset every time he refuses to tell her anything. She is his sunshine and he knows it.

His trance breaks as Ruhana holds his hand while sleeping. He smiles at her act and removes his hand from her grip gently. Kisses his head softly and leaves her room.

*****
Vineet moves to his room. He sits on bed and his fell on the photo frame resting on the side table. It is his picture with Ruhana. The girl has been very kind to him. Ruhana and her parents are his only family. He isn’t a stranger, he is their son, that's what her mother says. A sweet memory lingers in his mind.

*Flashback Begins*

It was the time when he was just 8 years old while she was 6. It was a sunny winter afternoon. While returning from school, they decided that they'll play at her home. Ruhana stepped out in the garden and sat on the swing grumpily.

Her mother was asking her to get inside the house, but she wasn't listening. Someone pushed the swing. She looked back and found Vineet pushing the swing. Her lips curved into a smile. He asked her the matter. Her face fell off.

"I want to go to the circus, but mumma is not allowing. "she said sadly.

"She will take you to the circus." he said.

"But I want to go with you." she said grumpily.

Vineet smiled. Their city was having a circus. Schools were talking students to the circus. Ruhana got to know that Vineet's class was also going. And like always she wanted to go with him.

"My class is going. I can't take you. " he said.

"But I will go with you! " she said adamantly.

"Your class will also go. " he tried to convince her.

But the little girl was not in a mood to understand. He sighed and something strike his mind. He rushed to his home. Ruhana turned sad.

"Vineet isn't listening. I'm angry with him. "she murmured.

Her trance was broken by music. She looked up and found Vineet playing the guitar. It was her favourite tune. She couldn't help but smile. He promised her that he will take her to the circus, but she had to be a good girl and not complain. She agreed and kept her head on his shoulder, while he continued to play the song.

*Flashback Ends*

Today the scenario is different. She doesn’t demand anything but answers. She demands him to smile. His life has been painful, since he was a kid. Ruhana has always understood his silence and with all such thoughts, Vineet falls asleep.
