Chapter 34

(NOT EDITED)

I gasped as I reached out to grasp anything. I sat up, breathing really hard and realized I was drenched in sweat. I looked around trying to make clear where I was. He’s gone. It was just a nightmare. Yet it felt so real, his hands around my neck felt so real. I could almost feel it. The shadowy coolness trailing a chill finger down my spine, I couldn’t help but tremble and cry in fear.

What if he bursts in and tries to kill me?

What if he sent someone to watch me? To stalk me?

What if he’ll kill Luke and Blade and everyone else too?

I stood up on my shaky legs, walking towards the door stumbling twice; I was in Blade’s room. I kind of felt bad, where is he sleeping anyways? I’ve got my own room, yet I slept in his room. What to go Gabriella on being annoying.

I walked up towards what looked like a balcony door and stepped out, the air was cool, I couldn’t help but shudder. I didn’t want to go back in the house for a blanket. I leaned on the wall after shutting the door and slowly let my back slid down until I was sitting on the cold hard ground.

I stayed there not moving for half an hour, just staring at the clear sky. I was numb from the cold, physically, but I couldn’t bring myself to go back inside. I took a deep breath, and resumed ignoring the world.

I’m sick of feeling sad and angry, or tired and useless. I missed Kai so much. One stray tear fell out of my left eye, slowly trailing across my cheek. I closed my eyes trying to recall the last time I saw him before Luke. The time he opened up about AJ. Before he changed the subject and started talking about Luke and everything. Also before I ran out and slipped on the grass.

It all started when I felt Kai was hesitant about something. He looked like he was hiding something, or more like distracted and trying to distract his mind with another distraction. If that even makes sense? Well it doesn’t matter, it did to me.

I sighed having had just enough, “Okay, stop talking.” Kai looked at me a little confused, “What?” I gave him a ‘don’t make yourself stupid’ look but still I think he didn’t get the hint. “What’s been bugging the whole day?”

He avoided eye contact. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

I rolled my eyes. “I don’t know what you’re talking about my ass. Come on Kai, you can tell me, I promise I won’t judge.” Well a lot. But I was obviously not going to tell him that.

“There’s nothing wrong, I’m just tired.” He said a little annoyed. Was I going too far? I don’t want to be nosy but he seems upset.

“I’m just tired, can mean so many things. I know I use it as an excuse to cover up the truth.”

“It’s nothing okay.” He spoke a little harshly, instinctively I flinched.

“I-I’m sorry I should’ve not asked… you don’t need to tell me if you don’t want too.” I looked down blinking away the tears. I was just upset that he’d talk to me that way.
