the softest glimmer
barely visible
breaking out
through your eyes

there is so much
you want to say
but too dark
to put into the light

you stack up your work
chop it into pieces
you know one day
you're not going to need this

for now you can't run
so you stick to hiding
but can't overcome
the stronger lightning

your head starts to ache
it's becoming overwhelming
for there is someone inside
who has not had a welcoming

they were born in the shadows
nobody would celebrate
nothing to label them
not even a date

just an ominous being
working hard to overcome
all that you've worked for
you will do and have done

but who are you to question
since this is just another being
after a while, their's too
personality will start fleeing

since we're all pencils
in a paper world
ready to be erased
by who? we don't know

but the glimmer in your eye
it must have meant something?
honey, no - it was all a lie
i just tried for nothing

but what she didn't know
is her strength had built up
and all that she feared
was what she had once loved

the people she left behind
the ones she never knew
those she already missed
despite what they would do

all her love and passion
grew into a new person
and if she were to trust them
maybe she'd be happier

but oh, you don't know me
she'd say this all the time
maybe i don't know myself
all my thoughts have been lies?

darling, i couldn't possibly explain
you're the only one who can hear
so trust me and trust yourself
and let the glimmer escape this year
