LYZA'S POV

"Sorry for telling you this but this wouldn't have happened if you didn't go back here in the Philippines."

"I am not saying this because I want to get you back, but please hear me out."

"... I can take care of your son very well more than your husband does. Erick and I have a good relationship. He treats me as his real dad, and I treat him as if my very own kid."

"Now, can you decide if you're going on the original plan or just stay here with your husband? Think about yourself as well as your son, Lyza."

Raph words kept on rummaging in my head. Tama siya. In the first place, hindi mangyayari ito kung hindi kami umuwi dito sa Pinas at lalong-lalo na kung hindi ako nakipagbalikan kay Derrick. Siguro nga, masyado akong nagpadala sa agos kaya ito nangyayari. This is all wrong. I have to stop this right here.

"Lyza, are you sure about your decision?"

Mabilis akong tumango sa tinanong ni Mama. Inaayos ko ang lahat ng gamit namin. Erick was discharged yesterday from the hospital and we thought of bringing him home at my parents' place.

"Lyza dear, pakinggan mo muna ako."

She held my hand to stop me from packing my stuff. Huminto ako at umupo sa tabi niya, saka ako yumuko. 4 hours from now ay lilipad na kami pabalik ng Prague. This is my final decision. No one can stop me from leaving now.

"Hindi naman kasalanan ni Derrick yung nangyari sa anak ninyo," she stated and I just gave out a deep sigh. Here we go again... Everyone's still on Derrick's side. Hindi ko alam kung bakit nila kinakampihan si Derrick gayung kundi dahil sa kanya, hindi maaaksidente si Erick.

"—Hindi rin naman niya yun ginusto. Don't you think what you are doing is too much? You're being unfair," she continued.

I shook my head uninteristingly as I eyed her. I am done with this. "Ma, please understand me. Natakot lang ako sa nangyari kay Erick."

"But you're being unreasonable!" Nagulat ako nang tumaas ang boses niya. She's gone mad. "Hindi naman tamang iwanan mo ang asawa mo dahil lang sa aksidente. C'mon, Lyza... Your son is now safe! Ano pa bang ikinagagalit mo?"

I looked away from my Mom's gaze. Pati siya ay nadadamay na sa problema namin. Miski ako ay hindi ko alam kung bakit ako nagkakaganito. I got this feeling that I need to take away my son because of the fear I had. Si Derrick ang sinisisi ko sa nangyari. Raph is right. Derrick is not responsible enough to father our son.

"Ma, nakapagdesisyon na ako. Sasama na ako pabalik kay Raph sa Prague," I said, almost a whisper. "Besides, napirmahan na ni Derrick ang divorce papers. Payag na siyang maghiwalay kami."

Mom reached for my hand and squeezed it gently. I closed my eyes and felt her comforting me. "Dear, I know I am not in the position to tell you this..." She paused and make her voice calmer. "But can you at least think again? Apat na taon na kayong nawalay sa asawa mo, hindi pa ba sapat yun?"

Nararamdaman ko na uminit ang mga sulok ng mga mata ko sa sinabi ni Mama. Automatikong nagflashback sa isip ko yung mga panahong kakahiwalay ko pa lang kay Derrick. Mahirap... Sobrang nahirapan ako.

"Ma—"

"Lyza, isipin mo ang anak mo. He needs her dad. Just this once, think about your child. Hindi yung sarili mo lang ang iniisip mo. Gusto mo bang lumaki si Erick sa isang broken family?"
