I Think I Love You

Chapter 23: Something Else Bad

When I wake up I see that the doctors are taking but I can't hear what they are saying

"What was that?" I ask them

"Honey it looks like jake's leg is worse than we thought" the head doctor says sadly

"What do you mean?"

"We can't save his leg. It looks like when it hit the sand it popped one of his main vanes and there is no way we can save it. We will have to remove his leg from the top if his knee down" the doctor says giving me a sad smile "we will begin the surgery as soon as possible"

"Ok" I manage to say I walk back over to jake and give him one last kiss

"I love you"I say before walking out of the room

I call my brother and ask him to come back and I'll explain when he gets here

He pulls up in 10 minutes and I explain everything

He grabs me and pulls me into a hug

"He is going to be ok we can get him and fake leg or something" he says giving me a sad smile

We wait for hours waiting for the doctors to finished on jake.

Once they are one of the nurses walk out and says we can go back in

I walk back in holding onto my brother for dear life

I go back to the chair I have been living in ever since Jake has been in here and I sit down

"We have ordered him a fake leg for him. Y'all don't even have to pay. We have done that part for you." He says patting my back

"Thank you" I say giving him a sad smile

He walks away and I look back over at Jake

"How did we get here?" I say stroking his hair

After suiting here talking to my brother I fall asleep and land in a dream

I am by a waterfall splashing my hand in the water.

I hear footsteps behind me and I turn around and see him

Jake

"Honey don't cry anymore. I am going to wake up soon. I need you to wake up now and see me as soon as I wake up" he says before fading away

"Jake! come back!" I scream out.

I shoot my eyes open and look at Jake

As if on cue Jake's hand moves and grabs mine

"Baby I'm back" a raspy voice says

I look up and see a smiling ocean blue eyed man

"Jake!" I scream out at the top of my lungs

This causes my brother to shoot up from the chair and fall on the floor

"Damn it Kayla whats wrong...." He says looking at Jake

"Hey man" jake says smiling at him

"Dude! your back!" my brother says fist pumping jake

"Ok ummm Brian can I talk to Jake alone please?" I say as nice as I can

He nods his head and walks out the door closing it behind him.

"I heard every word you said to me while I was out, I tried so hard to come back to you. I hated the fact that you were crying because of me" he says tearing up "and I have one question"

"Ok ask me" I say grabbing his hand

"I can't feel my left leg" he says looking into my eyes

I froze then and there

"Jake. When that wave took you under it crashed your leg into the sand where it hit something hard" I say unsure how to tell him

"Go on" he says motioning me to finish

"You lost your leg. It busted one of the main vanes in your leg. Jake I'm so sorry. If I could trade places with you I would in a heartbeat" I say with tears coming out of my eyes

I look at Jake and see he is crying too

"We'll be ok. Both of us" he says kissing my forehead

I nod my head and jake scoots over in the bed patting the space next to him

I climb in and we snuggle up together

"So what did you do the whole time I was out" he asks me

"About that....." I say trailing off

"Kayla" jake says sternly

"Ok I didn't eat. Anything I ate didn't stay down. Jake you can ask Brian. I tried to eat but I couldn't." I say looking down

"Kayla eat something now" he says grabbing the sandwich off the table

I take it and eat it quickly

"Thank you. I don't see how I didn't relies you were skinnier" he says lifting up my shirt revealing my tiny stomach

"I'm sorry jake. I couldn't do it" I say crying into his shoulder.

"It's fine we'll be ok together" he says kissing my lips.

He's finally awake!
