Victoria trotted down the stairs as someone rang her doorbell furiously. When she opened the door she was surprised to see Lori.

“Lori what’s wrong?” she asked noticing her panic filled eyes as she let Lori in.

“I’m going to lose my license.” She wailed and Victoria rolled her eyes.

“You won’t lose your license, if you’re going to have a nervous breakdown every time something goes wrong; you need to find a different occupation.” Victoria said as she ushered Lori into the kitchen so she could finish preparing her coffee.

“I’m being investigated for that stupid perverted kid’s DUI case, how can I remain calm?”

“So am I but you don’t see me losing my damn mind over it. You have to stay calm so you can think of a solution. You and I both know that we did everything we could to overturn that sentence so don’t worry about it.”

“But-“

“Lori what did I just say?” Victoria asked as she glared at Lori daring her to mutter another word. Lori sat back in her seat and let out a sigh.

“Did you let anyone know about this?”

“No I just got the letter this morning.”

“Do you have it with you?”

Lori pulled out the letter and handed it to Victoria who promptly ripped it up and tossed it in the trash.

“I’m taking care of it, go to work and keep your mouth shut, understand?”

Lori shook her head yes and she stood up. Victoria closed her thermos and grabbed her bag before leading Lori to the door.

“Keep your cell phone on, and prepare your notice.” she told Lori before getting into her car.

Victoria dreaded walking into the courtroom, she hadn’t seen Dante in over a week and she wasn’t sure what her reaction would be. She was slowly letting go of her anger but she was still hurt and much more deeply than she cared to admit. When she walked up to the courtroom Mama D and Dante were walking out.

“What’s wrong?” Victoria asked hoping for no more bad news.

“The judge was in a car accident this morning so the court date has been pushed back.” Dante answered but Victoria just looked at Mama D.

“I’m sorry you had to come all this way for nothing,”

“It’s nothing for me Dante is the one doing the driving.” Mama D said as she hugged Victoria. Once mama D let her go Victoria checked the time, and tried to calculate how fast she could get to the District Attorney’s office.

“Go home and get some rest, I’ll call you later.” She said before racing back to the garage.

Victoria was sure she had broken at least three traffic laws and would have a ticket in the mail with her name on it but she made it to the office just in time for lunch. The D.A. Daniel Bao walked out of the building and the minute he locked eyes with Victoria he knew that lunch would have to wait.

“I know it’s something important if you’re here two days in a row.”

“I told you, I am very persistent Mr. Bao,”

“You’re persistence is legendary Ms. Gregorio. How can I help you?”

“Alright what’s wrong with you, you’ve been sulking since last week.” Gaby asked as she sat down next to Dante.
