"Emily hurry up!" My dad yelled down the stairs.

I grabbed my navy blue suitcase and headed down the stairs. This will be the last time walking down these stairs. This will not be my home no longer, University of Chicago will be my home for now.

I have butterfly's in my stomach, I have been waiting for this day to come for as long as I can remember. My hard work has finally paid of, I worked hard my whole life by getting good grades for this, and now I get to go to college.

When the acceptance letter came, and it said I have been accepted to the University of Chicago I was so excited, my parents cried a little because I'm all grown up. They were even more proud when they read about my scholarship for the girls soccer team.

It's scary to think that only four years ago I had no idea what college I was going to, or that my boyfriend Dylan would be going to Michigan state and leave me here in Chicago.

As I leave my house not knowing what will come in my future, the future is unknown, but the past is always certain.

"Were gunna leave without you if you don't hurry up, University of Chicago will miss you!" Mom warned me, with a smile on her face full of excitement.

As I got into the car and we drove off, I looked back at my old home and was thinking the next time I will see my house is in November. I look out the window as I listen to the music coming from the radio.

...

"Emily were here!" Mom excitedly said

"Finally!" The drive was longer than I thought it would be. It had to be at least a few hours.

I look out the window before my mom finds a parking spot. I see lots of people hugging and kissing, parents are crying. Some kids look happy to be away from their parents. Some of them look nervous like me, but others show no expression. They just walk around like they are meant to be here.

I jumped out of the car, grabbed all my bags. I walked up the steps of my dorm. This is my new home for the next four years.

I opened the door and saw around 15 girls and their parents with them in line.

Some of the girls gave me dirty looks. I wonder if any of these girls will be on the soccer team with me? None of them look really soccer material though. The third girl in line waved at me with a friendly smile, I waved back. She seems friendly.

The line didn't take that long. When we got to the front their were a lot of people behind me.

"Third floor, room 3." The dorm adviser told us. Then she handed us the key. I have her a friendly smile before walking out of line.

We walked up all the stairs, they were really steep it was hard with all my stuff.

We walked to my room, and my dad handed me the key. I see a girl sitting on the bed with a magazine in her hand. She looks up with a smile on her face.

"Hi, you must be My roommate!" She says standing up from we bed.

"Yes I am, Im Emily by the way." I tell her.

"Ashley." She says her name, I like that name.

"Well nice to meet you Ashley. I see you took that side of the room so I'll take this side."

She's pretty with long black, wavy hair, and tan skin She a not that tall but not that short. She has nice clothing too. Way better than the people I saw down stairs.

"Em were gunna go grab the rest of your stuff we'll be right back"

"Okay"

The dorm is smaller then I hoped. There are two beds and a window in between. We each have our own dressers. Then there is a sink and a mirror up against the other side of the dorm.

A few minutes later my mom and dad return with the rest of my stuff.

"We're gunna take off and go if that's alright Emily. Do you need help with anything else?"

"No I'm all good, I'm going to miss you guys."

My parents both hugged me goodbye.

"Now be safe, I don't want any phone calls coming home saying you are in trouble!" Mom warned.

"Now my little Emmy, I want you to have fun and keep your grades up." said my dad.

"Okay I love you both see you soon."

"Love you too." my parents saying goodbye
