Chapter 5
Finnick Pov.
Annie and I go up to the roof for a picnic like we do every year. It's nice that neither of us are mentoring this year. I wish we didn't have to be here though. We talk and have a good time. We stay up there for hours. It's hard because Annie has gotten worse. I have to take care of her, which I have no problem with. But sometimes, it's harder to talk to her. She doesn't understand things the way she used to. But I'm still grateful for her. We go downstairs for dinner. No one really talks. Annie taps my shoulder after dinner.
"Yes?" I ask with a smirk and turn around so that I'm facing her.
"I'm sorry." she whispers.
"For what?" I ask.
"Because, I'm not the same. I'm trying to go back to the way I was. When you liked who I was." she tells me.
"Annie I still like who you are." I say.
"But you don't love how I am." she says.
"Annie I'll always love who you are." I tell her.
"But I'm different. I'm..." She starts.
"Your what?" I ask.
"I'm mad." she answers sadly.
"No your not, even if you were, I'd still love you." I tell her.
"Promise?" she asks.
"Promise."
