Chapter 8: Those Eyes
-Bex p.o.v.-

"Lunch is in ten minutes, start heading down."

I looked up from the paperwork I had been going over. Minnie was standing before me.

"Alright, thanks Minnie." I marked the page in the booklet of rules I needed to go over to be headmistress. I stood and followed Minnie out of the office. On the walk to the great hall I ran into a small group of hufflepuffs.

They started to apologize but when they saw it was me they looked up at me with wide, terrified eyes.

I chuckled, "sorry, didn't mean to crash into you guys." I smiled down at the first years. "Where are you guys headed? Lunch is starting in about two minutes. Shouldn't you be heading to the great hall?"

They looked at each other, gesturing for one another to speak up. Finally one boy spoke, "we got lost."

I smiled down at them, "don't worry, it happens. Follow me, I was heading there myself." They smiled softly, warming up to me.

I continued in the direction I was headed before, making it to the great hall doors only three minutes late. With the group of first year Hufflepuffs following me, I weaved through the crowd, getting to the front.

Everyone went silent, waiting for me, "sorry I'm late guys, I had more important matters to deal with. But you may eat," I pushed the doors open and stepped aside to allow everyone entrance.

Minnie sent me a look when she passed by, I only rolled my eyes. I entered the great hall last, right after a small Ravenclaw came running in. Most everyone was already seated and eating, though there was a few stragglers slowly making their ways to their seats.

Glancing around I quickly made my way over to the Slytherin table. I grinned from ear to ear as I sat down in between Severus and Regulus.

"Aria! Great to see you again!" Regulus gave me a quick hug, then Severus did. "How are you?"

"I'm good, thanks." I smiled, "how are you boys? Good, I hope?" I asked while picking a couple of chips off of Severus' plate and tossing them into my mouth.

He glared at me, "those are my chips. If you want some go get your own."

I giggled, "but Severus! I want your chips, yours taste so much better."

His glare darkened, "well I don't want you to take mine. They're mine. Not yours. Not ours. Mine."

I shared a look with Regulus. All at once he had pounced on Severus. Regulus was rolling around with him on the floor, wrestling. While that was happening I grabbed Severus' chips and started throwing them at the pair fighting on the floor.

"Miss. Dumbledore! Mr. Black! Mr. Snape!" Minnie was rushing towards us from the teachers table.

The two boys froze. Regulus was half on Severus half on the floor, trying his best to pin Severus down to the concrete flooring. Severus was struggling to fight Regulus' strength. The whole room was silent and watching. I threw another chip, still staring at Minnie who was speeding towards us.

"Detention! For all of you!" Minnie exclaimed, her eyes wild.

I opened my mouth, about to counter her.

"Not a word Miss. Dumbledore! You will have detention as well. No exceptions." She narrowed her eyes at me.

I pouted, slumping down in my seat, "whatever."

"Out, you three, you will not disrupt this meal." Minnie waved her hands at us, shooing us away.

I shrugged, "come along boys, let's finish this elsewhere," I grabbed the bowl of chips sitting on the Slytherin table and motioned the boys to follow me.

"Leave the bowl." Minnie glared.

I looked to Regulus, he shook his head vigorously, "no. You are not shoving those chips down my shirt."

I pouted, "fine. We'll get a new bowl of chips from the house elves." I put the bowl of chips back on the table grudgingly.

The house elves eagerly gave us a bowl of chips.

"Aye, Dumbledore," Sirius came jogging up behind me, catching up in only a few strides. "Oh uh, what's in your hair?" He look down at my clothes, "and all over your clothing?"

I shrugged, "I might have gotten into a small food fight." I couldn't help but smile at the memory of the food fight we had gotten into after the boys finished wrestling.

"Well I just wanted to ask you if you would mind accompanying me to Hogsmeade this evening," he ran a hand through his dark hair, giving it that look of just waking up- it suited him. His hair was always in the perfect placing, not a strand out of it's assigned place. But this new look, it made him look more dangerous, something that Sirius Black did not need but benefited from.

"No." I answered simply, not stoping as I continued up the stairs.

He looked at me in disbelief, "but you said I needed to learn manners! I asked you in the most polite way, I didn't even put an innuendo into the question." He increased his pace slightly to catch up, he had fallen behind after his momentary shock.

"Actually, you didn't ask me anything. You merely mentioned what were going to ask, you didn't ask it." I shrugged a shoulder, "and I don't appreciate you insinuating the question. If you really want me to go with you, you should have gathered the courage to ask me."

He grabbed me, one of his hands on my waist the other on my upper arm, near my shoulder. He pushed me against the wall, only inches away from me, "will you go to Hogsmeade with me?"

I raised a brow, "that's very nice of you to be so straightforward and bold, but the answer is still no. It seems you have not learned anything about manners after all, it's not polite to get in someone's personal space and push them against a wall. Especially when asking a girl out."

From the back of his throat came an animalistic growl, I raised my eyebrows at the strange sound. "What will it take for you to say yes to me?"

I scoffed, looking past his face. "Hmmm let's see; you could grow up, maybe mature a little. You could be polite, or I don't know, quit being a jerk. Any of those things would work."

Something flashed in his eyes, something like hurt, but before I could be sure the emotion was gone. His eyes went back to their cold, distant glow. The dark grey looked like the sky over the sea. Dark, swirly clouds warning a fisherman of a storm.

"And then you'd go out with me?" He smirked, the darkness in his eyes seeming to lighten up.

That was one thing I had loved the most about Sirius when we were friends. His eyes. The were truly the gateway to his soul, you could see every little thing about him shining through his eyes. When he got back with James from pulling a prank on some defenceless kid, they shone bright, happiness evident. After an argument with me they were dark and angry, swirling around like crazy. When he laughed they were bright and open, accepting. When he frowned they were downcast and pale. They were bright and interested, hopeful maybe, when he was talking to me. More recent than usual, I had noticed. In fact, they weren't like that until the end of last year, when he had started flirting. They burned through to my green eyes, waiting for the answer he wanted.

"If you do, I'll think about it." I reasoned.

His eyes were bright and interested again, "so would you say I've improved since this morning?"

I pursed my lips in thought, "yes, I suppose. Why? What are you thinking?"

"I'm thinking that as a reward I should get that kiss I've not received yet."

I rolled my eyes, "in your dreams."

He nodded, "yes, I dream of you and I often. How did you know?"

I sent him a look, "that's disgusting, Black. Don't tell me about your dreams."

"Even if they include how you on our honeymoon?" He raised an eyebrow, the smirk on his face widening at the look on my face.

I gasped in horror, "keep moving in the direction you're going and you won't even get close to a date."

He chuckled, his eyes sparkled. He leaned in, making me realise his hands had not moved from their place on my waist. "So about that kiss?" His forehead touched mine, his nose was grazing mine, his eyes bore into mine. I felt connected.

Blinking, I broke the trace. "Not gonna happen."

"Really?" He questioned, ever so slightly he leaned in farther. The tip of his nose ran against the side of mine and his lips inched towards mine.

"Yes really," I moved one of my hands from my side where it had been immobile, to his chest. His muscles were hard and his chest was firm, for a short second I thought he had to be flexing, but he was completely at ease.

He smirked under my touch, "you just can't keep your hands off of me, can you Dumbledore?"

I ignored the comment and tried to push against him, preventing him from moving closer.

"Come on, just one small kiss, that's all I want. And maybe if you're feeling generous, you'll come with me to Hogsmeade later." He persuaded, his charm coming off strong. He pushed against my hand on his chest, his strength overpowering mine, he was just a few centimeters away.

There was a gasp behind Sirius.

He signed, closing his eyes tightly. There was barely any space between our lips. He pulled back, glaring at whoever was behind him. "What? Can't you see we're busy?"

A small voice whimpered an almost silent reply before scampering off.

He turned back to me, his eyes were dark and angry. When they connected with mine the anger seemed to dissipate, vanishing before my eyes.

I rolled my eyes, "would you mind letting me go, Black. I do have to clean up, I'm meeting your brother later. That's why I can't go to Hogsmeade with you, even if I wanted to, I already made plans to go with him."

At the mention of his younger brother, his eyes returned to the dark swirls they were only seconds before. "My brother? He asked you? I was beat our by my little brother?"

I shook my head ever so slightly, "when will you realise that I don't like your brother? It's not a date, and he didn't ask me. I asked him."

His hand fell from my waist and his eye widened in shock. Then they narrowed to a glare. "Even after that moment we just had? You'd rather go with him than accept my date?"

I scoffed, putting my hands on my hips, they were still warm from where his hand had been. "Why does everything have to be about you? I asked him if he wanted to go to Hogsmeade with me way before we even had this 'moment' if that's what you want to call it. I wouldn't have said yes to your date anyways. Your brother has nothing to do with any of this."

He looked thoughtfully at the space behind my head, "so if you weren't going with my brother you'd go with me?" His eyes looked hopeful again, staring at me, begging not to be let down.

"Maybe," I mused, "that all depends on if you learn to be polite. But I don't see that happening anytime soon, do you?"

He chuckled, "you never know, I'm willing to do anything to get what I want."

I nodded, "it's good to be motivated."

"And you know what I want?" He asked, placing a hand on the wall beside my head, he leaned in slightly. The smirk played on his lips, "I want you."

I rolled my eyes, "good luck with that. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to change."

He chuckled, trailing after me. "I need to change as well, thank you for that."

I looked over at him and gasped. "Oh Merlin, I'm so sorry, I didn't know I was getting you dirty as well." I frowned, examining his clothes. On his white shirt, where I had used my hand to push against him, there was a brown smudge from the chocolate I had thrown at Severus' face during our food fight. On his hands, and smeared on his jeans, was spaghetti sauce that Regulus had poured on me. He was also covered in a bit of gravy that had been dumped on my shoulder.

"It's fine," he shrugged, "I didn't expect to come out perfectly clean when I saw you covered in food."

"Uh well this is my stop, I have to do a couple of things before I meet up with Regulus." I slowed as we started to pass the entrance to the Headmasters office.

"Oh uh well have a good time," he choked out bitterly.

"Thanks, you too." I smiled and turned to the gargoyles.

"Hey, Dumbledore," I turned to face him again, "if he doesn't give you a good time, you could always bail on him and come find me." He smirked, and rubbed the back of his neck, flexing his muscles in the process.

I rolled my eyes, averting them from him, "alright Black, I'll keep that in mind."

"I'll see you later, and next time I'll get you to say yes to that date." He chuckled.

I giggled, shaking my head slightly, "whatever you say, Black."

I muttered the password to the gargoyles and entered the stairwell as soon as they jumped aside. What's wrong with me? I thought to myself, what is he doing to me? I couldn't help but think as I began to peel the dirty clothing from my body and change into a new outfit.
